But, Bravo Sierra is still offered.

Lowe's Slammed for Slashing Its Military Discount — Best Life

Lowe's had ended its military discount a year and a half earlier for certain items including major appliances,

I did not serve, they did not like my weight and blood pressure.

My "dog in this fight" is the Public Relations Issue.
Lowe's Honors Veterans, but with limitations.

Verily I sayeth to thee: As the Large Print Giveth, the small print taketh away.

YEP, was at lowes checking fridges. asked about veterans discount, SORRY LOWES DOES NOT DO VETERANS DISCOUNT ON APP. any more.

I know this will make me the odd man out here but I didn't serve my Country to get a discount.

While it is nice that someone gives these things why do people act like it is owed when it goes away?

You’re correct but folks still get use to some “things”…..like with gun laws…. One gets use to it being one way, then it changes and that change po’s folks…….;)

Veteran discounts became a big thing after 9-11 and through the period of the gulf wars. Big name companies trying to out-do each other in their pandering patriotism "we support the troops" advertising campaigns.

During the same time period camouflage became a fashion statement.

Prior to that all veterans were considered to be dysfunctional psychotic drug-addicted misfits, not welcome in the better spheres of social life. No quicker way to kill a nice party than to mention you were a veteran.

As a long-time observer of human behaviors and interactions I have found these phenomena both interesting and confounding. Making the transition from societal reject to public hero has been difficult for me.

As a disabled vet I have a placard and I do use the disabled parking spots. I don't feel I'm owed anything special for having served, however if a store is offering a Vet's discount I usually accept it. Home Depot still offers 10% off, but you have to apply for their App and use it to get the discount. Ed

Big Lots offers Veterans Discount

Big Lots offers Veterans Discount.

Apparently you only need to ask at my local store.

Few weeks ago, clerk mentioned that she was giving me my Veterans Discount.

I explained that I did not qualify. She then corrected the sales computer entry.

Looks like the issue was not telling customers about it. If you shop there because they told you you’d get 10% off and they say oh sorry we stopped doing that, you have every right to be ticked. Most companies at least send out an email announcing policy changes, like Amazon saying no more Kindle magazine subscriptions.

I wonder if the guys complaining about this discount going away have been paying attention to the economic climate in this country over the last couple of years.

Corporations have a duty to make a profit for the stockholders. Its hard to do that while your labor costs are going up like crazy, the price and availability of goods are erratic at best, the real inflation number is close to 20%, etc. I can't blame them for rolling back a discount.

They are probably paying attention and maybe regretting their decision to offer their lives for “this.”

I hope everyone is paying attention to the potential mess that appears to be coming our way.
A case in point SVB just failed and has been taken over by the Feds. This event is the Second Largest bank Failure in our history:eek:

As for a 10% discount, I value my life a Hell of a lot more than ANY discount Lows or any other store can offer me.

I am not sure what the "this" you are speaking of Telecaster but do know that if young again I would have no problem risking my life again for the greatest country in the World!

And in regard to the bank collapse they were in a very risky area as far as banks go with who they catered to.

Couple that with some managerial missteps and you get the collapse.

Not a sign of things to come unless your bank pigeonholes itself to a niche area and fails to diversify. A large percentage of their customers were uninsured under FDIC rules.

As a veteran, that statement sums it up. For me, I VERY rarely accept veteran's discounts. The way I see it, there are lots of vets that came home from combat not the same in many ways. I did not see combat in my time.

While I have accepted the discount under certain circumstances (it is on my DL)I prefer the discount be saved for those individuals.

On the contrary, I'll take any discount available. Others can too if they make the effort, veterans or not. It has little to do with "why" one served.
