New load from DoubleTap - it goes in excess of 1500fps out of my 2.5" Model 19-7 - and is pleasant to shoot as well as being wicked accurate.

A large watermelon literally exploded when I shot one of these solid copper hollow points into it from about ten feet from my prized Combat Magnum. The largest piece wasn't even big enough to try and eat. I actually think you could shoot these out of a 340PD or similar lightweight and not sustain injuries - and they would be clocking over 1400fps. DoubleTap advertises 1645fps out of a 4" barrel and 12" or more of penetration in 20% ordinance gel.

I'm impressed.

Wowsers! That's HOT! Mike McNett has done it again. As to using it in a 340, doesn't Smith caution against using bullets lighter than 120gr., or am I thinking of something else?

Howdy - I think the 110gr warning is correct - thanks for the reminder. In fact, I think it says so right on the gun - which I am about to go look at.

Appreciate the welcome - have posted on the 1911 forums extensively, but the more I work on 1911's the more I appreciate the simplicity of the revolver for civilian armed defense - especially for new shooters and even more especially for the fairer sex who may have trouble racking slides and so forth.

Good grief that is one nasty load from a 2.5" gun...wow.

DoubleTap has been putting out some strong performers.

I picked up a box of these recently.

I've not chrono'd these yet but at least they "look good on paper"!!!
