I keep thinking about what I would buy if I could save up for what I think would be my "Dream Rifle" that I can actually afford. I don't mean the crazy rare or the ultra premium handmade. I'm talking about guns like what Freedom Arms makes if this were about revolvers. This wouldn't be your regular fare off the rack rifle but still be something that with a little (or a little more) saving could actually be obtained and would be amazing. The one that keeps coming to my mind is the Big Horn Armory Model 89 Carbine in .500 SW. It's a modern day precision built lever action in a hoss of a chambering that will take down anything on the North or South American continents. For all I know this think could smack down an elephant if I ever had the inclination and the opportunity. (and the skill…)

What would be yours???

For the last 10 years of my working life, I was planning on buying myself a Holland and Holland double in one of the African calibers when I retired, sort of the self bought gold watch thing. The last year on the job I started looking for one. When I first looked at the prices, I almost went out with a heart related medical retirement:eek::eek:

Needless to say unless I hit the Mega-Millions jackpot, I'm going to have to suffer through life without a quality rifle. Oh well life is still good.

I just want a big sharps to shoot a 1,000 yds or so. Also would like some winchester 92s made up in short rifles in .256 mag and a couple other`s.

my old national match M1A1 that was stolen. it was my dream rifle i had skimped and saved to get as a 22 year old. shot many 200yd military style matches with it. some low life broke in and stole my gun cabinet with lots of other stuff in it but thats the only thing i miss...

Remington 700 BDL in 30.06. Looked for an older one for years trying to find one that wasn't beat to death or overpriced. Finally picked up a 1969 model in really good shape in San Antonio last year for $375 OTD at a pawn shop. Shoots as well as the M70 bolt rifle Uncle Sam let me borrow for a while.

I love my weatherby .300 mag. With nikon buckmaster scope sighted in about 200 yards, even though theirs really nothing big enough in missouri to shoot with it I still like exploding cinder blocks with it now and then for about 2 dollars a shell!

My dream rifle? Easy. A Springfield 1922 M-2 .22 LR w/ the standard Lyman 48 rear sight and the 17 front sight. With a nice 1907 sling I'd be fixed for anything I'd want to do with a .22 LR rifle in the woods or at the range.

I would have said a scout scoped M-1 Garand, but that is close to being finished. I'm looking to buy a Amega Range base that replaces the rear hand guard. I have a nice Nikon EER 2x scope that a friend let me have for $5. I have a very nice Springfield 5.9 M-1 (2-56) that I will be putting into a virtually new USGI glass bedded NM stock. I figure with some nice Greek HXP ammo, I'll have a rifle that will be outstanding for range and deer hunting! Very cool.

Bob,

I'm in heat for an Accuracy International in 300 WSM with some equally pricey glass, perhaps Leupold first focal plain w/ mil/mil reticle and knobs.
That ought burn-up about 7K!

Mike (I'm dreamin')

I'm not much of a rifle guy. My "dream" rifle is probably a bit more pedestrian than most, but I've been drooling over an M1A National Match at my LGS for quite awhile. I have absolutely zero "need" for a legitimate 1,000 yard rifle, but since when does "need" have anything to do with it?:D

Well I already have two, both Ruger RSI's 10/22 an 7X57. Now to find a left handed boltaction in 7X57 an I'm set.

I've always wanted a Winchester 62A .22 Short gallery gun.
But I'd settle for a Barrett 50 BMG (for slightly longer distance shooting).

One of the original ARs would really be cool too; a BAR :)

I'm waiting on an M70 pre 64 now, just bought Saturday. I'll be posting pics when I get it.
