I had a dream last night I was smoking a cigarette, it was most good. Going on 6 months without one.

Then I had a dream I was watching a farmer feed his dinosaurs. I went out to get a better look at them and a rattle snake chased me. That was most not good.

Congrats on the milestone, Kev.

I haven't dreamt in almost two decades. I take stuff to turn them off.

My ex was taking that, one night a few of my daughters friends were hanging out, and her boyfriend was there. They said my ex walked out, and told him she would was going to cut his _ _ _ _ off, then turned around and went back in the house. She never remembered any of it.

I've had some killer dreams. Woke up a few times and got up and took a Valium and went out to smoke till my heart rate got back to normal.

in my last one I was back in college with grade school friend showing up at the final exam never having been at class all semester.. campus was not familiar... ugh.. I been out of college for over 30 years.. but it is finals week for my son in grad school... dreams are just weird..

Yeah, I dream a lot. Can't remember most of them. Wake up and most of the sheets are on the floor. Guess it was a big buck I had missed. I quit smoking in 1974 so don't think that was my problem. Big girls aren't either

Conflating the above, I'll leave it to the inimitable Mr. Larson to continue the absurd:

The only dream I have is of "Genie"..... :)
Hot Mama.....
OK, it's 4am out here and I seem to be awake and in "stream of consciousness" mode.

When I read that, the first thing I thought of was Stephen Foster's, "I Dream of Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair"...

then the divine Barbara Eden, still kicking a few months short of 90, (here a mere 82):

then the also divine Ella Fitzgerald singing, Bewitched, bothered and bewildered"

(Wow, they don't make singers- or songs -like that anymore.)

I'm going to try and go back to sleep now and see what I can come up with in an actual dream.

I think I'm probably lucky in that I know I dream BUT I really don't remember them. Might be the same every time??? Some of them might be good but I don't remember them either.

Oh well; perhaps I could find a therapist who could train me to remember my dreams so they could be analyzed??

I think I'll just let them go!

Oh, my!

Two trains of thought.

1. Been retired 11 years. Been back to work IN MY DREAMS many times (actually helps me get back to sleep after the 3 AM urination). Many times I thought - dreamed - I don't have to take this, I'm RETIRED! As if I were an emeritus employee.

2. Quit smoking at 12:15 PM, April 25, 1987.

The bad news: it took me 7 years to get over the cravings. I literally hoped I'd get cancer so I could go back to smoking til I died.

The good news: the idea of ME smoking repulses me (I don't care if others smoke). The harm to my health was - is - manifest. Like an alcoholic, I know I'm addicted to nicotine. I stay away from it, because I can't control it.

The paradox is that I'm fine with alcohol. I handle it fine.

Hang in there, wood174. In the end, you will be glad you did. It will be well worth it.

Last night I dreamed I was late for work at a place I haven't worked at in over 35 years. I have wives and old girlfriend dreams, Navy dreams, cop dreams, and lots of dreams where I'm looking for something I can't find, usually a bathroom. Did you ever have a "naked in public" dream. I get those every now and then. I may need to change my medication.

I haven't had one in years, but the worst is when you're having a nightmare and you" wake up" but PSYCH! You're still dreaming. The worst part being waking up from the second dream is usually pretty difficult.

When I was a kid I had recurring dreams of ostriches chasing me. Figure that one out.
Another was a wolf chewed a hole in the bedroom wall and if my arm hung over the edge of the bed he would eat it and I would wake up screaming.
I remember them clear as can be to this day.
As an adult I dream very little (or don't remember it)

I can still see that Tyrannosaurus rex coming in the back door of our garage. 65 years ago.

charlie sherrill, I have all them dreams, too. And more, I haven't made a tee time or caught an airplane in ten years.

My son tells me it's a manifestation of frustrations in my life. Whatever.

So you quit smoking and switched to edibles? :D

I had dreams about work for a few years after I retired. I don't remember getting mad in any of them.

Now I have dreams about "work like" situations, but not at all related to what I used to do.

Every once in a while I'll have a dream about some sort of catastrophe. Maybe it's my truck burning, or a tree falling on the house. Very realistic and it's kind of a shock when I wake up and nothing is wrong.

Dreams are supposed to be the brains way of sorting out what happened to at various times, but I'm not sure I agree.

They are weird.

For over five years after I retired, I had reoccurring dreams about work. Many times I had to get up and walk off the mad.

I've actually thought that several times.

I've had a lot of nightmares about my ex. I'll kinda still be half asleep and dreaming and look over at the empty spot on the bed and smile and go back to sleep.

I had 3 cigarettes in 6th grade. tasted awful. Dreamed about other things as a young man. Now I try to remember why I dreamed about that.

Night before last in my dream I ate a ten pound marshmallow, when I woke up my pillow was gone. Last night I slept like a log, when I woke up I was in the fireplace.
