Drove a 2022 McLaren 720S today

All season rated Street tires on overcast track 40 degree asphalt so not ideal grip yet it just wanted to GO! Pretty amazing technology. The rear wing deploys as an air brake when braking heavily. I can only imagine the speeds achievable on some proper slicks! Maybe later this year. :)

I just can't imagine the feeling of breaking tire by punching it going 35 MPH! I did that for about 2 seconds in my friend's Mustang GT. You pros can have all the fun! People like me can stick with an old man car. Hence, my 4 cylinder Malibu!
That McLaren would be great on the Autobahn.

Amazing grip for 40*F! The tech in today's supercars is pretty amazing.

Doesn't look like a very forgiving track if you go off... not much runoff, and a lot of concrete! Looks like a fun track though, it would be a blast in our car.

Love it, glad you enjoyed it. I too had the privilege of driving beautiful cars I could never afford, and it's really a pleasure to drive them. But when it comes down to it, I'd never buy a hyper car, even if I could afford it.

.."not much runoff, and a lot of concrete!"

we have a LOT more run-off than Monaco..;)

I've got over 10k laps here and have only tickled the tires twice..once in a student driven Subaru WRX on street tires who decided by the end of the day he was Mario Andretti and tried to take turn 1 (Clockwise) 20mph faster than even Mario could do it... wrong!

...and once coming out of turn 4 (clockwise) in my Focus on cold slicks and cold track I nudged/backed into the tire wall. No damage.

If you drive the PROPER line properly you don't need to worry about crashing into things. Oh sure..Ive spun out quite a few times..too many to count..however I know better than to try and "save" a spin by driving off into the tires or worse.

In a spin..two feet in!

I tell students before every lesson.." Stay on the pavement".

That is the golden rule of Whiskey Hill. ;).

The Hill is very Miata friendly BTW..

Some people just seem to have all the fun these days. :)

I did drive a Ferrari back in the 1970's which was for sale, $5000.oo, but I did not have the funds. I did have a lot of fun just watching the Tach go from idle to 7000 as fast as I could push the pedal and let off the pedal.

It was a hoot to drive.

My last month in the Air Force, got off after a 12 hour day in air cargo at Travis AFB, went to the parking lot...? Called the AP "we have a report of a car matching that description going out the north gate at high speed this morning." Never saw it again, never bought another hot car, still not over it 51 years later.
Closest I've been to it since is when I drive my Son's Tesla..0 to 60 in 3 seconds is quite the hoot.
