DRY FIRING S&W 617 NO DASH ?

Been kind of warm in Yuma lately hasn't it. Use to deploy there when I was in the Corps so we could drop ordnance on the ranges out there. Glad we were never there in the summer.........

Size 4 plastic wall anchors are perfectly sized snap caps for .22s. All my 617/17s get stored with a cylinder full so they are always ready for practice. These are surprisingly durable (more so than some "practice rounds" ) and cheap as dirt. Pretty much any hardware / home store sells them for about $4.00/100. That's cheap insurance IMHO.

Not my gun but you get the idea.

I use #4 anchors too, but do think most of the protection is gone on the first hammer strike, so after the hammer drops on each of the anchors I rotate them each a few degrees so that the hammer doesn't fall on the same point again.
