the book says not to dry fire the rifle (understandably) but how do you release the firing pin after you have cocked it and the gun is empty ? or do you just leave it cocked but in "safe" mode ?
Before I put mine away I put an empty case in it & pull the trig.
Why would you do that?
Acts as a snap cap, depresses the firing pin.
Why don't you all do what I do. Pull the charging handle almost all the way back but not quite and pull the trigger, then slowly slide the charging handle back. This de cocks the hammer. Simple! . Why leave the hammer spring under tension when it is this easy![]()
