Greetings, all:

I've never used a pocket holster, and I've got kind of a dumb question about them: What keeps the holster from coming out with the gun when you draw?

Thanks, and Semper Fi.

Ron,

Most of the synthetic ones (Uncle Mike's for example) have a semi-sticky part of the holster that helps hold it in place...some of the leather models have a 'hook' built in that catches the edge of your pocket and retains the holster while the gun slides free.

...hope that helps a bit. :)

What he said. I love my (multiple) Remora's.
When I take the rig out of the pocket at the end of the day, the pocket comes out, too.

The sticky/rough material used does rely on firm contact with the inside of the pocket. Baggy clothes/pockets will not work as well as something like jeans that are usually cut for a more snug fit.

I have a couple of the DeSantis Nemesis holsters. The entire exterior surface is made of the tacky material which enhances its grip in the pocket. That said, when carrying any pocket holster I frequently find myself walking around with the appropriate hand in my pocket....just minding my own business ;).

All good answers. The "Uncle Mikes type" (there are other brand names, but the holsters are pretty much identical) are very inexspensive. So you can try one and if you don't like it your only out $10-15.

The bad news with this type (and it's not that bad) is, they tend to lose their stickiness after a couple yrs. But they don't cost much to replace.
