My job has decreed that my revolver must go by Dec 31, even though I retire a few short months after that (Oh, well, twist my arm and make me buy a new gun!)
Since it will be for a very short time, I decided to go with a Shield 9 for uniform use, because it meets the criteria (9 or .45, M&P, and minimum 6 round magazine) and will also easily fit into my future retired life. However, there aren't many - or any - Shield duty holsters. Anyone know what's available that will hold a Shield acceptably?

Does it have to have multiple retention devices? Or would a simple thumb break suffice? If its the former, I don't know of any. If its the latter, I'm sure that you could find a leather or kydex holster to fit your duty belt.

Edit: it looks like Lobo GunLeather make holsters for the Shield, and offers a thumb break as an option.

Safariland makes an ALS holster for the shield. It is a great holster and I have it for my 9c. The backing plates for the Safariland holsters are all the same and you can use a 3 inch duty belt attachment on the shield and 9c holsters. I picked up the holster at Adamson police supply in Colorado. They had the shield ALS holster on their shelf. The holster is about $40 but you then have to buy the duty belt attachment. I don't know how much that goes for since I already had one but I would guess about another $15-20.

Thank you guys!
Sorry, should've been more specific. I'm needing some sort of higher-security holster, and I use web gear instead of leather. I did plan on getting something from Lobo for one of my revolvers but this new requirement put that on the back burner for now. It looks like the Safariland SLS and ALS holsters are OK, so I'll definitely check out the stuff at Adamson (I'm in CO also, raylo.) I know there aren't too many choices, since S&W doesn't market the Shield as a uniform duty firearm... but I'll see if the range guys will at least work with me on a holster.

If you have not got your Shield yet, Buds Police has both in 9 and 40 for $335 right now.

Holy chit! What agency do you work for that would allow a BUG/secondary weapon to be worn in uniform? With the firepower bad guys have these days I want all the advantage I can get.

The list of agencies and trainers that have prohibited the Serpa is long, epic, and well known. Don't you dare.

Since you have already bought the pistol, this may not matter, but I wonder if the 4" version would work properly in a duty holster for a 4" compact. You might also check G-code holsters.

Well, here we are 6 years later!
I ended up with a couple: the Bianchi Accu-mold hi-ride thumb break and one of the Uncle Mike's. I retired in June of '14 and I still have the Shield-9. Picked up the 45 version along the way.
By the way, I was with Denver PD. The firearms criteria were pretty simple back then: 9mm or 45, minimum 3" barrel, minimum 6 rounds in the magazine. I also used a 3913 as a duty gun for a while.
