E Howard Hunt and the CIA denied Hunt was in Dallas during the assassination till after Hunt was busted for the Nixon Watergate burglary. Then the CIA said he went rogue and was in Dallas.

Hunt had balls and connections. Hunt was blackmailing Nixon saying he would go public abut Nixon's involvement in the JFK assassination. The Nixon people were paying Hunt over a hundred thousand dollars to remain silent while in prison. Mrs Hunt during this time was to fly with a TV reporter about possibly spilling a few beans concerning Nixon, took out a $250 K flight insurance policy, and her plane crashed just short of the approach to the Chicago airport killing her and the reporter.

So Hunt knew things, but how honest was Hunt?

Hunt made a diagram for his son Saint for the linage of the JFK assassination.

LBJ, the ambitious vice president was at the top on the list. Next a line connected to Cord Meyers, a CIA agent that JFK was having an affair with his ex-wife, who was murdered shortly after the WCR came out, case never solved. The line continued to Bill Harvey, another CIA agent good at assassinations; also connected to Meyers was David Morales, CIA, black op specialist. A line continued from Morales to framed words "French Gunman Grassy Knoll." The French gunman presumably could be Corsican Mafia assassin Lucien Sarti, who has figured prominently in other assassination theories.

There wasn't a Lee Harvey Oswald name on this diagram.
Found this on a blog by Jim Morrison (not THAT one!) and thought it interesting and would welcome coments from the conspiracy theorists on the forum.

I read recently that it was a Secret Service agent which had an accidental discharge of the M16 rifle which fired the fatal bullet. The agent was in the car following Kennedy and when the first shot by Oswald was fired, he grabbed the rifle and is so doing fired the fatal round. It seemed to be totally plausible to me.

I'd comment, but I'm busy peeking through the drapes looking for black Suburbans.

Funny you say that. When the ATF agent came to interview me for my FFL I expected a black Suburban and a guy with black sunglasses and a windbreaker. Instead it was a guy in jeans driving a Ford Edge crossover with 200k mi on it. He was super nice and we shot the breeze a lot on off topic issues. We agreed that Hollywood created a federal agent image. He said with the amount of driving he does they need fuel efficient vehicles.

If you want an educated discussion on the JFK assignation people should read several in depth analysis of the Warren Commission report and how it was conducted.
I was only pre-teen back then, but when the government locked away all the evidence until 2029, it doesn't take much to do the math and figure that anyone who might have been involved or had firsthand knowledge would be long dead. To this date numerous requests have been made by various presidents for the files release but only portions trickle out.

We will never, ever really know. My belief is that the people that have been coming out of the woodwork with the "real story" are doing it for their own aggrandizement. I'm sure that will continue for all time. Every few years it seems someone comes out with a new theory on the Lincoln assassination. They are all selling something. President Kennedy is dead, that is the one truth we have.

Nixon is a polarizing figure. I guess the role he plays vis a vis the CIA depends on whether Nixon is the villain in that particular story or not. In other versions, it's Nixon who is trying to blackmail the CIA, while unaware that his "plumbers" were all CIA agents except for the one patsy, G. Gordon Liddy.

Would the Secret Service even have a M16 in 1963?

Whomever was behind the assassination of JFK was capable of putting out the smokescreen of endless theories and disinformation that have muddied the waters to this day. This suggests organization and resources.
Who benefitted from the deed? Some who benefitted could be patsies, just part of the distraction. The actual shooters could be manipulated patsies too.

Good question. Who benefited? I wasn't born till 69. I didn't live through it. So who benefited????

About 30 years ago, a book titled "Mortal Error: The Shot That Killed Kennedy" came out, proposing that theory. I read it back around that time, and it was not very convincing, more unfounded speculation than any concrete evidence.

Personally, I have always believed that The Cigarette Man did it.

Over 20 years ago I had a casual relationship, sort of a friend of a friend thing, with a former FBI Special Agent in the Dallas office at the time of the assassination. His name, Doyle Williams, was mentioned in the Warren Report in regard to the post-shooting altercation with the Secret Service at Parkland Hospital. He strongly hinted to me once that there was much more information known about what happened than was released to the public, but he would not divulge any details, even though by then he had been retired from the FBI for quite a long time. Doyle's now-deceased son Jim, who I also knew, told me me much the same thing, that his father hinted of secret things but would never discuss details, even to him. See:

The largest benefactors from Kennedys death were the defense contractors. Since LBJ kept us in Vietnam they all prospered. I was watching a program on one of the cable networks about the Kennedy assassination. They played an audio recording of a meeting with LBJ and representatives from several of the larger defense contractors. The defense contractors were concerned about Kennedy getting us out of Vietnam, putting an end to their cash cow. LBJ was clearly heard telling them that if Kennedy was out of the way, he would guarantee that they would all get rich.

My comment is that the emergence of the various outlandish theories for the JFK and other assassinations show me that the American psyche is seriously disturbed by the idea of lone gunmen. Surely by now the various mass shootings we've had make it clear that they are out there and in considerable numbers.

Do you think that these "High Rollers" with all their $$$$$
and investments and income, would just put all their money on

just one horse ??

You my friend are a poor, business man.

The one thing that will always stick with me is Oswald's choice of a rifle. That Carcano was junk and the scope belonged on a Daisy. It was purchased for less than $20. He was supposed to be a trained soldier, he could have gotten something decent, like a Swedish Mauser, excellent sniper rifle, for not much more.

I read that Hunt tried to pressure Nixon for leniency in sentencing, a pardon, etc. If Nixon was the criminal mastermind he has been, he could have Hunt sprung, invited him to the White House, and....or spread word among the inmates that Hunt was a snitch.
