E series 1911

I want one of these so bad I taste it! Anyone know of where I can get a model# 108409, its like they have all vanished off the shelves...

Hey WRGADog

Any news on your gun??? I have the Melonite SC and have the same issue. I found my slidestop was digging into the finish so I simply polished the rear face where it was making contact with the frame. I did however order a new Ed Brown Hardcore slidestop from Brownells to replace it. I'm not sure if I will be sending the gun in to have them warranty the fininsh because all of my imperfections are underneath the slidestop and are not visible unless the slide is back and from what I heard over on another forum, S&W will not re-finish the frame, it must be replaced. Please lety me know how you make out with yours. Thanks!

I was really wanting one as well. Had a large deposit down on the 1911 E Sc but threw in the towel after 4-5 months and bought a shop stock Sig 1911 Tac Ops. Really wish S&W could meet the demand. Maybe I will try again if supply ever meets demand.

1911 Series E SC

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the frame or slide finish on the #108483 or #108485. It seems from the You Tube video I viewed and the Gunblast review that there is a tendency to scratch the finish. I don't want to spend the kind of money S&W wants and have a scratched up gun in a short time. I don't want a "safe queen" either but what is anyone's experience?

I believe it to be true. I have one and it has a few blemishes on it below the slidestop and thumb safety. This is in part to the fact that the aluminum/scandium frame is just more delicate than steel but also due to the fact that the small parts are rough on the side that mates with the pistol causing them to "scratch" the frame. I have since replaced my small parts with some Ed Brown units and if I were to buy another aluminum framed 1911, I would first detail strip the gun and polish the underside of the slidestop and thumb safety to assure this wont happen again. I believe it to be an oversight in quality control over at S&W and I have e-mailed them about the issue. This in no way affects the function of the firearm and if you should use it for what it was intended for (carrying), then a few blemishes should not be an issue anyway. This is my SC with new slidestop and thumb safety, notice below the thumb safety there are some small silver specks. Those are rub marks. Now that the parts are smooth, I'm going to buy a blue touch-up pen from the gun store and all will be well.

I've been waiting for my stainless tacrail since March. I saw one in a gun store in Hutchinson,Ks two months ago, but haven't gotten one from my LGS yet

Thanks for the picture. Are all the 1911's experiencing the same "blemish" problem or just a few? If I buy the pistol and have my gunsmith polish the slide stop and the ambi-safeties that should prevent the problem, right?

Hopefully S&W has heard about the issue and you wont have to worry, but I would ckeck anyway.

I missed out on my S&W E-series. I had a email alert from Bud's Guns. Got tired of waiting. Jumped ship and bought a Dan Wesson V-Bob. It will be in my hands tomorrow. See what shakes out. I have a Gunsite and a Pro 3". Great guns.
