"E" Series

My wife bought this pistol for me and it is one of those guns that I'll shoot but it will never see a holster. I have several older guns that I think are so beautiful that I don't want to put any visible wear on, this SW1911 "E" is one of those. For decades to me the only 1911s were those made by Colt, I never considered a Kimber, Les Baer or any of the other fine makers. The SW1911 "E" Series changed all that, I just like the look and feel of the thing. It will join some other prized pistols in my curio cabinet that I like to display and with some TLC after every range session it will look like this years from now. This is the 1'st pistol my wife ever bought me so it will have a special place in my collection.

Those are beautiful 1911's, I got the same model as Mags, but I'm waiting for another like Mike's...

Some of mine are for carry and the majority are not.

One thing I notice, yours has more of a "brushed" looking finish on the slide and frame where mine looks more like bead blasted...

The TA series with the rail has a mat or bead blast finish while the standard "E" has a buffed slide. I definately found a great girl when I met my wife in Bangkok during my travels. She'd from the Philippines and we dated for a couple of years before getting married, plus it took me a year to get her a (legal) visa. She loves it here (except winter) and will become a citizen very soon. After being divorced for several years and generally turned off to American women I never thought I'd get married again. But never say never, her liking guns is frosting on the cake.

I was enjoying a cup of coffee with my Mom on her patio and was sitting there looking out in the backyard at her railroad tie flowerbed and a light went off in my head.

Happened to have my 1911 with me for a little shooting planned later that day. The novelty headstone belonged to my grandfather who passed away in '10. I'm really not what you would call a shutterbug, and normally I don't have a good sense for what makes a nice picture... But I think I got lucky with those 2! Took those pics with my smartphone. They seem to take surpisingly good pictures.

Dooman, I didn't realize that a smartphone could take such high quality photos. I just bought my wife an Iphone 5 for her birthday, now I'm curious about what kind of pictures I can take with it. If they are anywhere as good as yours I'll be impressed. Cell phones have come a long way in a short time.

My phone is a Motorola Droid X. It's a couple years old now. I think it has an 8 megapixel camera in it... but don't quote me on that! LOL!
