E22 LONG RIFLE CTG REVOLVER

I HAVE AN E22 LONG RIFLE CTG REVOLVER. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YEAR IT IS. THE SERIAL NUMBER IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HANDLE AND UNDER THE BARREL. IT'S A 4 DIGIT NUMBER ONLY. NO LETTERS BEFORE OR AFTER. IT HAS A 3 1/2" BARREL. (ACTUALLY MORE LIKE 3 1/4")IT IS DOUBLE ACTION. ANY IDEAS? The web site is not allowing me to show pictures..Not sure why???

It could be any of several possibilities. Please post a few good pictures and a serial number. No one can help you much without at least that information. I have no idea what an "E22" is. Please explain. Are you certain that it is a S&W? BTW, best to avoid using all caps. Some find that to be very irritating.

Welcome to the Forum. There was an FIE pistol called an E22?? Please give us the serial number, configuration, number of shots, barrel stampings, DA of SA, stock configuration, etc. and we should be able to assist.

When you open the yoke/cylinder is that where you are seeing the E22 stamped in the frame? That is likely an assembly number if that is where you are talking of, not a model number. The serial number on the butt of the gun (handle) and on the barrel will be your serial number if this is a S&W. Does it have the S&W symbol on the sideplate or opposite side of the frame? 4 digit serial number would probably be a post war 22lr kit gun if all of these guesses are correct!

Ron, welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Pictures can't be just pasted into the post. You have to upload them as attachments or upload them to a hosting site like Photobucket, then an IMG link to the picture pasted into the post. If you want to upload them as attachments, click on Go Advanced at the bottom right of the text box, then scroll down and click on Manage Attachments. Follow the prompts to upload your pictures. To prevent any sizing issues, your pictures should be resized to 1280x960 or so, so the resizing software on the forum can deal with them.

Looking at the revolver, with the barrel facing to my right, it's stamped "22 LONG RIFLE CTG". What I'm thinking is an "E", may be some sort of emblem. That "E" (or emblem) is also after the "CTG". The serial number is 6776 and appears on the bottom of the grips and on the bottom of the barrel that can only be viewed when the cylinder is swung out. I will ask my son why I can't send pictures.

Welcome! If you have a Windows computer, using Paint and resizing your photos to 1000 X 800 will allow them to post if your originals are too large.

If the caliber stamping is on the right barrel, my guess is ".22 Long Rifle CTG" with a small symbol in front and back, called a dingbat. It will look like a 3 on the end of the CTG stamping end.

Why would you think it is a Smith & Wesson relvolver ?

The E would stand for Excam, a cheap forgein import.

Welcome to the forum. In the absence of photos, perhaps you could answer these questions:

What, if anything, is stamped on the other side of the barrel and on top of the barrel?

Do you see on the right side of the frame below the cylinder a four-line stamp reading:

MADE IN U.S.A.
MARCAS REGISTRADAS
SMITH & WESSON
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.

Are you measuring the barrel from the front face of the cylinder to the muzzle?

Does the gun have fixed sights or adjustable sights?

We ought to be able to identify this gun if it is a Smith & Wesson, but without pictures that may be harder if it has been modified in some way.
