At 95% maybe $450. Having all the matching stuff is nice but condition is important. I may be willing to pay a little more dependeing on what 95% means.

In my area I think we'd be looking at $600-ish. You can easily spend less on just the gun but then quickly go over that when you start purchasing the extras. That seems to be how I end up doing it...
But the quest to make it a complete package can be fun. Sounds like all you need is the screwdriver. Too bad that particular one is so $pendy. Someone else here probably has a good idea of what they go for.

I bought this 6" from GB in July for $475 shipped, and was quite pleased. I wouldn't rate in any better than 90%, but that is just the way I like 'em. A four screw shipped in 1960. Personally I'd rather get a vintage Tyler or holster than a box that sits in another box on a shelf, but that's just me.

The 4" was a local gun show buy a couple years ago $525, it shipped in 1961. Both S prefix #s.

I got this five screw "pre-28" for $4xx a couple of years ago.

The serial number puts it about 1954 - 1955. I would grade it 90% to 95%, but then I'm kind of generous in that regard.

Wells,
Are ya lookin to buy one or sell one?

If yer sellin...Watch out for them low flyin guesstimates around here's. :D;)

As a matter of fact I came into a pre-model number Highway Patrolman
at jest a dime or two over three hundred bucks here a year or two ago.

But, that does not in anyway reflect the market price today.

If'n yer lookin to buy...Wells, ya could do worse.

Best of luck to ya either way.

Su Amigo,
Dave

In my neck of the woods my LGS has a 28-2 6 inch 95% for $599, that is a bit high to me though...... I would pay $500 for the one you are speaking of, but I am not an expert.... Someday, it will be worth more....

There was one at the show over the weekend. It was priced at either $795 or $895. It didn't sell. Big surprise. In defense of the seller and the gun, it was a first year gun in perfect shape. No box or tools. I'm thinking he'll have it for a while at that price range.

I've only owned one or two of them over the last 40 years. I always found it tough to just get my money back (traded into them.) Because of that I've always shied away from them. What I've always assumed is you can own a 27 for the same price, and it looks better.
