This was yesterday's gunshow deal. $250 cash (tag said $300). Older gentleman had a table of 'private collection'. 4 were Smith top breaks. 3 of them were 'shiny' due to aftermarket refinishes. This one is original, with #s matching floral (wild turkey) grips (stocks). Nickel has some staining, but zero pitting or flaking.
Action is like new. Bore rates excellent. Another sock drawer gun.
Funny thing is he had all the later refinished ones priced higher.
SN in the 6,000 range, so not bad for a gun pushing 145 years old!
The quick phone pic is a little bit overexposed, but the case color on the hammer and trigger are still vivid. Most of the blue remains on the trigger guard.
