44 Magnum shipped in early May 1956 and now fitted with coke bottle type stocks made of Goncalo alves by Keith Brown. I think the stocks are superb and look great on this 44.

That's just gorgeous!!!

I'm waiting of Keith's...they are worth the wait!

Btw...he doesn't build grips for off brands like Colt, does he?
I don't want to call and bother him any more than I already have.

Bill: I totally agree with what you said. A beautiful six-gun dressed in beautiful "trousers".

Now we know where all the good 44's are at. Bill has most of them, and then of course there's Chuck.

Another nice one Bill.

Just curious Bill, did that gun have damaged or incorrect stocks on it when you bought it?

I think I like those KB stocks better than about any other style of his that I've seen. Does he still do them exactly like those? I haven't seen them on his site.

Bill, It's a real pleasure to see the grips on your beautiful 44 Magnum, Thank you for posting it. AG, I've not made Colt stocks until now but picked up a nice OM at the last OGCA show and will be making stocks for this frame soon, actually I have a set underway but have not had the time to complete them. G4F, I have made some coke style stocks but these are the first out of Goncalo Alves and are not pictured on my site.

Thanks to all,
Keith

Doc:
Gorgeous .44 but it would seem you don't have a dog in your kennel although if you do, I bet it or they are awfully nice as well. Is the font on the barrel different or is it just the angle, it seems almost italicized?

bis:
Let me understand this, you MADE those grips from scratch? If so, you wouldn't mind contacting Smith and Wesson and offering them grip-making lessons would you? Very, very nice work.

Thank you both,
Scott

G4F...I have the original stocks for this 44 Magnum and they are near mint like the revolver, but I am always playing around with stocks.

Scott...the roll mark on the barrel is normal. What you see is just an artifact of photography and photo enhancing.

Bill

Like all your guns, that thing is really something to look at! Those stocks are really interesting to me. I may have to see about getting some of them for the 57 I just bought.

Keith,

How did you know that I'd want Colt stocks for an OM?

Not only are these the best stocks, he's a mind reader too!

That's still a beautiful gun there Doc, I had to look at it again!

I was never a fan of GA stocks, always liked dark walnut and Rosewood. But those are really fantastic. The checkering is beautiful, and little details like that escutheon really pop!

Hope the medallions are metal - the ones on the latest Smith's are vaccum plated plastic!

Bill that is a wonderful looking gun and I really like the grips. I to usually like the darker grips or grips with dark grain running through them but these are really beautiful and add a lot of pop to the gun.

Vey nice, Bill! I also am surprised that I like the lighter wood with the deep blue of that gun - dramatic.

Thanks for the beatuful picture,

Jerry

Doc, Your photo's help to get me out bed in the morning and go to work each day. I says to myself go make money and maybe I can own one half as nice some day. Thanks for the photos!

Bill,
Great looking gun and wood! I will restate that Keith is the Michelangelo of wood and has not equal! I love his grips and plan on acquiring some more in the near future!
