If it has an S in there it is from 1951.
Jim

Sorry, when I went back I saw you did put the S in there.

S 75947, 3 1/2" Blue, was shipped in February 1950.. It was sent to Evaluators LTD. in Virgina..

ditrina can't beat that there is just something about the old ones! Plus can't beat the 3.5" added plus carved ivory grips:D

NEW PICS ADDED

Well I deleted my original post. So here are the first pics I took before any labor went into clean up. As posted before this is not a collectable it is a shooter and it has a couple of issues some minor pitting I did find that it had went back to the factory for re-blue. Tough the side plate I think was re-blued again at some time.I removed all the white paint in the bbl lettering and off of the front sights as well. Then I cleaned it with some degreaser then some ren. wax that made a big difference that is the second set of pics. It will go in for a bbl change out from 8 3/8" to 5" toying with the idea of shrinking the 5" to 3 1/2" not sure. All numbers match both bbls sr# to gun. This is pretty long so if I left out any thing my apologies.

Thanks RB

You better try a 5" before you do anything radical.. You're liable to stop right there.

I was going to add a comment to this thread but after seeing what was done to the gun I no longer feel like doing so.

Dave

Yes I read your post on that one and a fine job was done on it. My hats off to you for doing what you do when you build them to your like'n. This one had some real minor but there issues it was'nt
new in the box. Thanks Rusty

Here is a new set of grips on the old timer. Mr. Patrick Grashorn made these for me,let me say what a great individual to deal with. Turn around time and his prompt answers to e-mails I can't say enough about. They fit like a glove and made just as I had asked.
Took a couple of quick pics of them think they set er off. Took er out to the range and it is right on after the bbl cut the smith that did the work did mighty fine. I will enjoy shooting er a lot and not feel bad at all.:D

Thanks Rusty

A Webley-Fosbery....they don't make them anymore.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help it.

Edit: OK, this makes no sense at all. I would have bet a 41 magnum sizing die that an earlier respondent mentioned a Webley-Fosberry. Note to self - no more fussing on the Forum after Margaritas.

Aint a thing wrong in doing what you want with what is yours. I have a Reg Mag I might be doing some trimming on.

Weatherby that is on fine looking 3.5 incher grips  and the engraving:cool: Ivory-Stag I got a thing for and engraving as well not all can carry the engraving but some can pull it off with flying colors.

29aholic I hear you loud n clear go for it. Like ya said its yours and nothing wrong with that.Matter of fact some times they turn out top notch and ya can't beat that. Dave (Keith44spl) does some that are well outside the box.

Thanks Rusty
