I just bought an early SAT to go along with my K22 collection. Its the nine row, knurled steel version. It has a black oxide type finish. It looks good .... really good. Did I luck out and get a totally pristine piece or is this a reproduction? Does anyone know how to tell a real one from a repro? I could post a pic or two but it would just look like a tiny black screwdriver.

Thank you gents

I'll try to take some good pics. The ones I took with my cell phone just don't show much detail. Have these SAT's been reproduced?

Chances are good that it is original, I believe. S&W made some of the SATs in house and contracted with vendors for others, so vendor overruns can appear on the market, but they are not technically Repos and can't be told from SATs delievered to S&W. I've never encountered a "fake" S&W SAT, that I could say for certain was a fake, I've seen SATs that the owner/seller claimed were S&W SATs, but clearly did not match any known S&W SATs. Ed

I believe the great guys across the big pond to the left (China) have made counterfeit copies of everything every made in the USA. I could be incorrect, but this is my personal opinion.
