Earthquake in Virginia, did you feel it?

Felt a pretty good jolt here on the Northern Neck of Virginia, 70 miles from Richmond, probably 1:45 PM Eastern Time, anyone else feel it?

CNN reporting a 5.8 in Mineral, Va.

Felt it here in Carlisle Penna. Lasted for a good 5 seconds! First time I've experienced one! Initially thought it was a heavy truck passing by.

I'm watching the Seattle at Cleveland baseball game and they announcers said they felt an earthquake. If you're from Seattle, you know what an earthquake feels like. The game didn't stop. Must have been pretty shallow. Cleveland's what; 250-300 miles away?

Northern Virginia

I live about 1.5 miles from the Pentagon and under the flight path for helos going into there. At first I thought that's a big helicopter real low and when it continued on and got worse it became pretty clear what it was. House was shaking and creaking and cracking. Local news is covering it now big time and cell phone service is down no doubt due to massive number of calls being made.

Now they are reporting the quake has caused the stock market to pull back.

Could one of you explain that to me?

I was at the office (about 10 mins from Dulles Airport) and I had just pulled into the parking lot after a late lunch. I felt the car start to shake and shimmy and looked in my mirrors to see what wise-guys from the office were bouncing up and down on my bumpers. Imagine my surprise when I heard we just had a 5.9 earthquake that originated 80 miles away!

Felt it here in Va. Beach...My wife felt it at work in Norfolk. First time I ever experienced a quake...I didn't know what it was and thought my house was getting ready to fall down...Wow, that isn't fun! Gave me a very slight taste of what that feels like. I didn't like it. Now, on to the coming hurricane...Man, what a week!...I hope everyone is ok...

I didn't feel it personally, but my sister who lives in Scranton felt it. It was felt a lot here in north east PA actually. I turned on the TV and saw that Scranton and Wilkes Barre are evacuating buildings... mainly because the 120 year old buildings weren't made to handle earthquakes. The news is going crazy of course.

Louisa VA nuclear plants

There are two nuclear plants quite near the epicenter that went off line for a short time but are now up and running. Very definitely George Bush's fault. Reagan National Airport is shut down temporarily. Expected to resume ops soon if they haven't already. Glad I'm not riding the Metro today! Yep, GWB's fault again! Local radio reports are the Washington Monument may have been damaged.

Felt it in Belcamp Md (about 45 minutes north of Baltimore). Pictures shook on walls for about 30 seconds. Pretty interesting, I had to check the calendar and make sure it wasnt Dec 2012.

It's the reason he didn't par the course. Gotta blame something, right? It's never his fault. My son was at work in Dearborn MI and felt the building move. I didn't feel it in Kalamazoo.

I felt it shake the one story bank building I was in here in south-western PA. for two or three seconds. I jokingly told the teller it was an earthquake. My son was waiting for me outside in my vehicle and he said he felt the Blazer shaking. Quite an experience.
