While I have not personally mixed the brew, I have used some of a friends that he mixed up. It seems to work OK - but then again so does Hoppes, and the plethora of other solvents already bottled and sold in gun stores. I suppose if you clean 10 - 20 guns a week and are looking for a less expensive solvent the ER should fit the bill. Me personally....... a bottle of 32 ounce Hoppes, a can of 4 oz Rig #2 or a 6 ounce of Remoil lasts me a long time and so is isn't worth the effort to seek out making the ER. Not badmouthing the home brew but at least for most of us it just isn't worth the hassle - unless you clean guns for a living, or own a Range, Gun Smithing operation or similar. YMMV........
