Ejector rods

I bought some S&W parts at a gun show yesterday. There are pre war and post war rods and one that I can not figure out what is for.
The top rod star measures the same as a pre war M&P .
The lower one is to small a diameter the screw into the shown star. Also note the extra metal behind the knob.
I checked a pre war Regulation Police but the rod is same design as the top one.
Any ideas?

The bottom rod looks like it's from some other kind of gun, not S&W.
