My gun dealer buddy Dan has a 7" Model 41, one large weight, chamber indicator, nice box, in electroless nickel. The gun looks new. The magazine is also electroless nickel. Did S&W make any this way or is it an aftermarket? He's thinking of getting a letter. Any experience among the more experienced is appreciated. Sincerely,

I suppose it could have been a special order since there was a time in the '90s when S&W did use what appears to be electroless nickel on some of their guns.

I wonder if a factory letter would pick it up, especially if the gun was returned to the factory for the special finish, but if pics of the gun are sent with the letter request, it might stir some interest?

May be a pretty hard thing to track down. In all likelihood, it is probably a non-factory finish.

I'd bet it's an aftermarket finish, not factory. Also it's a cocking indicator not a loaded chamber indicator.

The indicator is the small pin in the back of the frame below the slide it shows the internal hammer is cocked and ready to fire. Pictures would be nice if you could get some to post.
