Eley 22 cal ammo.

I've been using Eley Sport, Trainer and Practice instead of the cheaper stuff and man what a difference.
The low end Eley is $3 and change for a box of 50. I buy it by the brick or case and beat that by a little.
Wal-Mart Federal and Remington is about the same money and doesn't seem to shoot near as well. All are 40gr lead standard velocity.

I have traded guns off because they "didn't shoot", they probaby DID shoot well but the cheap fodder was crap for accuracy.

I know all you guys shoot good ammo but it took me 30 years to learn a lesson that saving a few pennys on 22's is a mistake.

Eley, RWS and Lapua and even CCI are all some of the best rimfire ammunition that money can buy today.

El cheapo .22 rounds are ok if you are just going to be shoot'n...however, dealers are charging as much for the cheapo rounds as these premium ones!

I have a 41 that loves Lapua the best. I believe it is the wax that they use, and for that reason I vacuum seal individual boxes after I break a brick to keep it from drying out. Perhaps a bit extreme...but this stuff is as much as .38's...or as much as they used to be.

You know even when the kids, nieces and nephew come over to shoot I let them use "the cheapest of the expensive". All of them are getting to be good shots using my K-22's, semi-autos and bolt guns.

I have changed my outlook on 22 ammo. I do have Federal 550 packs and I run them through the 10-22 and H&R revolver. But when the bench and sandbags come out, even for the kids, I let them shoot what Uncle Gail shoots.

Eley makes some of the best if not the best .22 ammunition.
IMO Eley Sport should not be included in the list of greats. I have had duds, and rounds requiring multiple hits to make fire. It is not the same quality as the rest of the line and not as accurate as CCI Stan Vol in my guns.
Mine is not the only complaint.

Eley Club is good stuff.

When I got my "new to me" .22 (Pardini Fiocchi) I went through a bunch of .22s to see what worked and what didn't.
Didn't find any that caused function problems, but some were definitely more accurate than others.

CCI: ok
Winchester: lucky to hit the target
Remington: ok but felt like shooting a 38
(Would you believe a 37? How about an over powered pop gun?)
Fiocchi: good
Eley Pistol Xtra: good
Eley pistol Match: good

Fiocchi and Eley were equally as good, but I use the Eley (it's a bit cheaper and - could be my imagination - a bit quieter too)
Got the box of pistol match thrown in (it's double the price of pistol xtra), but for me it didn't shoot any better.

I remember someone at our club trying to give away some remingtons cos his 41 didn't like it.

My Pardini SP is very fond of RWS ammo. It should be about the same gun you have. RWS may or may not be easy to come by in your neck of the woods.

Yep, looks like I can get RWS, a bit more expensive than Eley, but in the same ballpark.
Next time I need to stock up I'll grab a few boxes of the RWS too.

I hope you enjoy your gun. I am very fond of mine. I have it set up for our domestic Bullseye with a red dot sight. I love how easy it is to take apart to clean.

When I was shooting in a bullseye league, I purchased an additional barrel for my model 41 that was tapped so I could use a red dot. My iron sight days are over I'm afraid. I tried Eley, Remington, Navy Arms, Federal Gold Match Target and a few others. The only .22 ammo that did not experience stove pipes, mis fires or other malfunctions was CCI Green Tag. I shot in practice and in the weekly matches and never had one problem with Green Tag. It's not inexpensive, but when you need the gun to go bang, I rate it the best.
