.22 Ammo Lasting on the Shelf All Week!

I saw some standard velocity CCI .22LR ammo at the local Cabelas (Buda, TX) for $10.00 per 50 round box (plus 8.25% sales tax). Once upon a time, it wouldn't have stayed on the shelf for long at all. I've actually seen this small supply stay on the shelf over 4 days.

I'm so ready for this madness to end.

Regards,

Dave

Can walk into to several local gun shops and see .22 stacked up. One local shop has the various CCI 100 round packs for about $9 each.

Went to Florida over the weekend, and checked out a few gun shops. The first shop we stopped in had .22 ammo stacked everywhere no limit. My son even found some match grade ammo on the shelf to try in his .22.

While I still dont see Walmart holding any inventory, .22 is definitely out there if you need it. Now its just a waiting game to see how long before prices drop a little more.

Even the gun show profiteers were displaying lower prices on recycled .22 bricks at the last show. I can remember when they were asking $75 a brick and now they are down to $50.

Picked up 3 boxes of Remington 225/box this morning at 10:30 in WM. They got in 20 boxes - 2 days in a row...had 12 boxes left after my purchase. The "resellers" had not shown up either day! Supplies may be geting better, finally.

Somebody should buy all of that off the shelves and flip it on the internet.
That would be a quick way to LOSE money. It is obvius that the new Remington 22lr expansion is pumping out production. Soon we will be swimming in Rems. This is the beginning of the end of the shortage. BiggB

My local shop limits you to 100rds every 30 days. They had Stingers on the shelf for $5.99 (and I've wanted to get more Stingers/MiniMags).

Two days later..... 100rd boxes of MiniMags for $8.99.

We'll see what I can find in a few weeks :D

Stopped in a local sporting goods store today, buying a fishing rod and reel for a birthday present. Was curious if they had one of the new M&P 22 compacts and the price so I walked over to the firearm section. Saw that all of the ammunition had been moved behind a counter. Noticed a list of available 22 and at the bottom of the list was Remington Vipers. I asked if they actually had them and clerk pointed to them on the shelf. I bought 2 boxes of 100 rounds for $8.49 a box. First time I have seen Vipers on the shelf in many months.

Almost forgot, yes the 22 compact was in stock, $369.

***ETA***. According to my records, the last time I bought Vipers was 1/15/13 and the price was $8.23 per 100. That reminds me, I need to enter the last few ammo purchases.

Glad to see .22 availability is improving. I waited 14 months for my 5K rounds of Aguilla SV from CMP and I have had a bucket of Rem GB's on backorder from Midway since last November when they were accepting BO's.

I need the GB's because they function best In my Advantage Arms conversion kit (MiniMags work well too but GB's are cheaper). Dicks had an ad for buckets of GB's a week ago but the last time I went after an ad they were sold out so I did not bother

Maybe midway will ship my BO as I updated my about to expire CC

I haven't even bothered to actively look for any .22lr in probably six months here. Although I did stop by a LGS to pick up some more .308 about two months ago and saw some CCI Blazer so I picked up two hundred rounds to see how it would run in my 597(which ran really well).

For now I'll stick with my modest supply of M-22 and Aquila Super Extra.

Gander had a big sale on .22LR last week beginning on Thursday. I didn't make it there until Friday morning and I was pleasantly surprised to find plenty available. That would not have been possible a few months ago, so I'm encouraged that the drought may be about over...until the next one...;-)

I was in Dicks last Friday buying shotgun shells for a few pennies less than $60 OTD for a flat. I asked about 22s and they were out but was told that earlier in the week they got 140 buckets of 1400 rd. GBs and sold out in 4 hrs. Larry

Could be why its lasting!

I went back by one of the local pawn shops that had a selection of ammo, .22 LR in particular. The Federal 525 bulk pack is priced at $50.00, continues to be out of bounds, price wise! He did say his distributor was not supplying him and he had to scrounge from different web sites to have anything to sell!

Just watching the http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-15-22/292430-official-stock-22lr-ammo-thread.html during the last few weeks is not only showing a resurgence of .22LR and .22WMF being in stock in more places, but also staying in stock for a longer duration.

It wasn't to long ago when something hitting that thread did not last for more than an hour... if that even. In the past few weeks, I've been enjoying via that thread, Cabela's selling the 325 round boxes of Federal Auto Match .22LR for $17.99 and being in stock for days before selling out. It wasn't look ago when that stuff was $25 - $30 a box.

Even with Cabela's 1 box per order, per day, per customer limit, I've been able to get a lot more .22LR (and .22WMF) over the course of the past week than what I did last month... which I really had to work at.

The same goes for the formerly rare as hens teeth 9mm... so there is definitely a reversal in the ammo availability trend underway.

Now, if Alliant Unique and other pistol powder would start doing the same, it would really start to feel like the good 'ol days.

Maybe getting easier to find, even in California

I think some of you guys are right, maybe things are loosening up. Kudos to all of you who just flat out refused to buy ammo at outrageous prices.
I've gotten a few good deals of late, a few that were still overpriced, but my two 22c guns, a Mosquito and a S&W 22A like them, especially the Mosquito....seem to like CCI mini mags.

You would have been amused.

I was at a WalMart, first in line, when the day's .22 ration, 2 cartons (4 boxes) of M-22 / 1000 rounds, came out of the cart. I was told by the manager earlier that the couple of guys behind me were known to flip the boxes on the internet for massive mark-ups, and had been asked to not come back, but wouldn't listen. So I bought my 3 allowed boxes. The next guy bought the remaining 1, and the flippers left together, all hacked off. Clearly they traveled together to wipe out the supply. I was still around, and there were several of the guys who seemed not to be flippers. I asked the manager, he said they were really guys who always came up short. So we did a deal. I had each of the 3 buy me a gift card for what I had in each box (none had cash), and traded with them.

I really didn't want the M-22 (was hoping for Mini-Mags), but was fed up enough with the profiteers to want to shaft them.

Stopped back in the local store on my way home today. I expected the Vipers to be all gone and was quite surprised when the shelf appeared to have just as many 100 round boxes as two days ago. I did buy 2 boxes since I was there.

This is a big weekend for the local flea market so I went to see how busy it was on Thursday, lots of "vendors" already setup and many other places staked out. I did see some .22 for sale at prices above what the stores are getting these days but did not see anyone buying. Maybe sanity is returning to the .22 ammo market.

I recently received an e-mail from CCI about .22 lr ammo. They mentioned that they believe the supply would be increasing towards the end of summer.

I hope they had opened up a new plant dedicated to .22 lr production to meet the demand with millions of more owners of .22's than there was just 4 years ago. Also look at all the AR15 .22 lr conversion kits that were flying off the shelves not too long ago.
