I know the old school methodology was a clean bore, but I have found that more bores get damaged/worn by cleaning then shooting. I rarely clean a rifle barrel, until the accuracy drops off. When testing new ammo, I fire about 5 rds of the new ammo and then fire for groups size. Uncle Sam beat into us a clean rifle and made us clean too often as they had not changed there mentality since the days of corrosive ammo, where you did need to clean multiple times to insure no corrosion.
Now a days, I do a quick wipe down and run a wet patch thru and done. Modern barrels combined with CNC have given us a level of barrel accuracy and consistencies that we did not have 30 years ago. Most often, firearms are more accurate then the shooter.
Same with Ammo, High speed ammo lines produce a fairly consistent product, but 22 rimfire is still 22 rimfire and its all about cost and qty.
If one shops around, and buys in case lot, there are plenty of good deals to be had on Eley and SK match as well as Lapua.
I do agree that for the money ,along with ability to purchase in most sporting good stores, CCI SV is a good value and a consistent performer.
I don't get wrapped on solvents or lubes. I like what's cheap and Hoppes #9 is still a good performer overall, and the smell is tradition
