I just got an e-mail today from CDNN in which they were advertising S&W Elite Series shotguns at 50% off.

Since CDNN traditionally deals in close outs or discontinued items, I suspect (though I have absolutely NO knowledge or confirmation) that this last remnant of current S&W "sporting" long guns (bolt action rifles, semi-auto shotguns as well as these over/under and side by side guns) will soon be history.

I repeat - this is a HUNCH - and it is intended to let our forum members know of the good prices available. The prices are right whether or not the guns are discontinued.

If you want one, now might be the time. Has anyone heard anything definitive on this?

Update: As of May 18, 2010, one of the other major S&W distributors has all remaining S&W Elite Shotguns on clearance. It seems pretty clear these are being discontinued. Prices are right if you want one.

I've been very interested in reviews of these fine looking shotguns, but have been unable to find any. My only concern is that they are not made in the US - I've never purchased a firearm not made here. Aside from that, they appear to be of top qualty and are tempting.

Also, how do you find guns on CDNN? I only seem to find firearm related items, but no actual firearms.

S&W is still shipping the guns to distributors, although the shipments seem to be just whatever S&W happened to have on hand, as orders for specific grades and gauges by the distributors are not being followed. The guns are very high quality construction, however when the guns first came available about 4 (?) yrs. ago, I bought several .28 ga OUs and SXSs, made in the same factory in Turkey, for $500 ea. when the same gun, with S&Ws name on it was $2000. I could not tell any difference between the quality, however. Ed.
