After looking through my copy of Sixguns, I was wondering what ever happened to his son who was in a few photos and shot a few guns. I knew Bart Skelton followed in his father's footsteps, just wondering about Elmer's son.

This aint gospel, but I think I read many years ago that he at that time was a school teacher, and that info is about 35 years ago! (I think)

I have always wondered that myself until I read an article a little while back that said his son Ted was still living in Idaho and was in his mid seventies.
I don't remember the article or the magazineand I hate to be vague. I think it was in a gun magazine on a store shelf, I should have bought the magazine.

Whatever he's doing I'm sure he still has a 5" pre Model 24 and possibly a 5" factory .44 Magnum. Not to mention a customized ivory handled Colt SAA .44 Special.

Ted was (is?) a CPA, I believe. Not much on him after the museum was established at Cabela's, at least that I can find.

When younger, Elmer said he was a smokejumper.
And I read somewhere Elmer saying Ted carried a Ruger Bearcat while smokejumping. Or had it with his gear. That kid lived his youth doing, well, the kind of things Keith44 (Dave) does right now. Ted Keith could write a book himself about his adventures with the old man.

Well after reading this thread I'm going to get my copy of Hell I was There out and re-read. I got the book in the early 80's and Elmer was nice enough to autograph it for me, I even cut the front out of the box it came in because he wrote the address in his writing and I could not throw it away, its it the safe now, this might seem strange to some folks but I believe every thing he wrote in the 3 books I have of his. Jeff
