I just saw the announcement that S&W wasn't going to be making any more of them! Tell me it isn't so!

I'm surprised they lasted this long, IMO.

I've been in the gun retail bidness (sic) for 30+ years. The 41 is easily the slowest selling quality .22 semi by far. Even in the late 1990s/early 2000s they were 2-3 times the cost of a Ruger, Buckmark, etc. Only hardcore rimfire shooters would buy them, most recently it was only the AARP crowd. Lately, it's been only the PC model made, selling for $1500+ quite often. Yikes!

Of course, the youngin's have all evolved to the slicked-up tactical bull crap, even on a rimfire. They have neither the interest nor the patience to wring out the performance of a 41. Sad.

Over the next 10-15 years, as the older collectors die off, it'll be interesting to see where the price goes on the used market. As interest wanes, maybe the prices will drop to allow us poor shooters opportunities to upgrade? Time will tell, obviously.

My .o2
