Earlier this year I finally found someone willing to sell me their David Clements .50 caliber Ruger Old Army conversions. I had Chig’s Grips make some Desert Ironwood grips for it and then immediately sent it off to Bobby Tyler to have it engraved. This is the first gun I have ever had engraved so I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted. I gave Bobby my budget and said I just wanted some scroll and didn’t want it to look gaudy. He had Rocky Sharp do the engraving and he knocked it out of the park!

Bean counters at Ruger really dropped the ball when they canceled the ROA...

Yes. Bill Ruger once said the Old Army was a personal favorite, along with the No. 1, and would never be discontinued as long as he was around.

Oh yeah, that is a very nice custom revolver.
You have excellent taste!

Have an Old Army apart in the shop and your 50 caliber statement interested me. Measuring showed that would not work with a 6 shot cylinder. Went back here and looked at your photos to se what appears to be a 5 shot cylinder. Did some searching and found this to be correct. Very interesting guns.

Do not know if you will ever shoot yours, but, some guys report firing 250 gr slugs at 1150fps from theirs. That is impressive as you have to stand on 45 colt loads to get that velocity.
