The Democratic Speaker of the House and her husband (both killed) and another Democratic state legislative member and his wife in Minnesota have been shot in a 'targeted shooting' (the shooter had a list of more lawmakers) this morning by a man credibly impersonating a police officer and driving a fake police car. Apparently there is also a manifesto found in the fake police care as well. This is where hateful rhetoric inevitably leads.

Now I'll be attending a protest near me, maybe two, today. No one gets to do this to scare me off or make me stop speaking my mind even if it doesn't please some people. This is enough.

I haven't been part of any political party for 20-odd years, last registered as a Republican.

The average American has little faith in ANYTHING at this point and the fact that you speak out gets you branded a bigot, unmutual, disharmonious, and so on.

Been watching this game for quite some time.
Would I attend a protest? ... no.
These things get hotter and more dangerous with each iteration.
This round, i'm armed up and riding the couch, prepared for spillover. Pretty much the same as the last 10 years of this radical BS.
Those expressing absolute adoration or absolute hatred for certain individuals, nations or causes tend to do so without any honest evaluation, simply joining a marching zombie mob.

They seem to be protesting the enforcement of immigration law. They seem to be protesting against borders, sovereignty of the USA and capitalism.

Elected liberals are promoting this violence with their rhetoric. As long as it's against Conservatives and Patriots, they don't care.

Shooter is believed to be a Walz appointee. Look at the victim's recent (sensible) voting record and you can guess the rest.

The problem with getting older is that I tend to spend entirely too much time thinking of and longing for how things used to be in the not-too-distant past. Events like this were something read about in the banana republics and third world ratholes. This turns my stomach, and makes me want to unplug, disconnect and live out the rest of my days in a place where I can only be reached by float plane.
