EPA lead ammo ban
Well, another back door approach to gun control is underway. The Environmental Protection Agency is now considering enacting regulations to ban any ammunition containing lead.

It's not gun control it's protecting the environment
But it's OK to dump all the other pollutants in the air and water and import disguised lead from China.
Lots of ammo has gone to steel shot and lead free bullets already.(at a price!)
Guess we need to hoard lead and primers.

While they are at it, why not ban cigarette filters, plastic, Styrofoam and all the other crap that never breaks down.

Actually, even the premium wines are phasing out corks and will all be going to screw caps. I think next there will be mandatory child proof caps also.

IMO since Heller/McDonald it has been evident that another approach to gun control would be more fruitful. This one is very dangerous, Jackson et el have shown themselves very willing to ignore science in the pursuit of political ends.
Also IMO;
Letters to Jackson are a waste of time,
Letters to Browner (czar of the environment) are equally a waste,
Letters to POTUS are certainly a waste--------this is all part of the "reasonable" regulation which this bunch favors.
Only congress can control these people, evidently the progressive wing of the Democrat party is not interested or would support the regulation. So that leaves those few surviving Bluedogs and the GOP.
The treaty approach is harder to pull off because a 2/3rds senate majority is necessary; this regulatory approach simply requires congress to ignore something, very easy, very likely.

Read the whole thing, folks. They rejected the ammo ban petition because they lack jurisdiction to regulate lead in ammo. However, they do have jurisdiction over lead fishing sinkers and are going to consider the request for a ban on those.
A modest proposal if that idiocy somehow sneaks past: use bullets for sinkers.

It's against the law to ban ammunition (thanks, previous Congress), but it seems it's possible to ban certain ammunition components. Or not. Is this government gone too far... again? But, as pointed out in the other thread on this subject, they think they might have the authority to regulate the use of lead for weights/sinkers in fishing. Gotta keep an eye on these people all the time.

I just read on the Drudgereport.com that the epa had dropped the attempt to ban lead in bullets and shotshells, I guess that the dems thought it wasnt a good time to try to poke us in the eye with a stick! Jeff Please delete already covered in another forum entry.....

Look, we can't rest while they still consider the sinker ban.
The sinker ban is irrational. What are the chances that a sinker is going to be lost, and then found by a bird before it sinks into the mud and lost forever?
These enviro-crazed terrorists that come up with this stuff are extremely dangerous and cannot be left unattended for a moment. Constant vigilance through information will prevail against their small-minded ways.
Do not think that the sinker thing will go away, as these people get a toe-hold wherever they can. Nearly every one of us here are fishermen, and we're all in this together.
Don't dismiss it because bullets are safe! They aren't going to pry my lead sinkers out of my cold dead hands!
