Equalizer EZ?

I swear I just saw one at the store a few hours ago. Maybe I'm insane

The Equalizer isn't marketed as an M&P so should this be listed under the "Smith & Wesson Semi-Auto Pistols" section?

Interesting pistol, and a departure from the herd of striker fired. The review Thiokol posted didn't seem to have a problem with stove pipes and FTF. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I think it is really nice.

Brownells just dropped an email in my inbox about it. All versions $499.00. I would only be curious if I didn't have 2 P365's and a 6906, so I'm full up on "small" 9mm's. I would like to go to my LGS indoor range and shoot a rental one. A single action hammer-fired plastic frame optic-cut-ready S&W EZ? Looks like they combined the designs of three pistols.

Some folks love em, but not a big fan of the EZ family myself. I recommended one to an elderly friend (EZ 9) and I can't stand the thing.

I don't like the grip safety and his double feeds or stovepipes a couple rounds every mag no matter the ammo or who shoots it.

Just not a good taste in my mouth about the EZs.

I'm currently working with a new EZ 380 and coming to a real love/hate relationship with the gun. The trigger is one of the best out of the box that I've tried in a long time. The size is good and ergonomic. And yes, easy to operate. However... double feeds and stovepipes with various ammo. To my amazement at the last range session, it spit the last round of the magazine out after extracting the second to the last round. I can't recall ever experience that in my 40 years of shooting handguns! My initial thoughts are that the magazine spring is just too soft to function reliably. Hopefully, it will improve with use (and maybe some different mag springs).

I got a bit excited when I saw "Micro Compact"... then noticed it looked like an EZ, with an optic cutout grip safety and striker/thumb safety on at least one pic. And a 23 oz weight and nearly 7" long with an accessory rail....I guess "Micro" and "Compact" don't really mean what I thought they meant. I'm gonna pass on this.

I would agree...it's not an M&P gun.

I have 2 EZs in 9 and 380. Both run well. This looks interesting, but I don't know if I can get my head around the EQUALIZER billboard on the left side. Maybe it's just me, but it reminds me of the old Rock Island billboard logo. Might be worth a try, as long as I don't look at it.
If it runs as well as my current EZ9, it would be cool.

The Shield Plus makes more since . Weight very close to the same and there's already factory 13 round mags and 15 round mags for each along with the options of 3.1 or 4" barrels . Even the weight is the same or lighter too .

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus and Equalizer EZ pistols.

My LGS has two in stock but I'm not paying $679.00 when I see them online for $499.99. Another reason I stopped buying from them.

I just saw this new pistol online. Wondering if the mags will fit in my M&P 9 EZ. Doubt it, they look like double stack to single at top. It sure does look like a 9 EZ though.

No, but they are interchangeable with the M&P Shield Plus

I actually like the idea of the Equalizer… hammer fired , good trigger .. easy to rack , due to it being hammer fired , so lighter RSA … option of a red dot .. option of a safety .. , double stack
10,13 or 15rd magazines .. I personally have neurological problems.. due to spinal injuries.. I can still rack slides to all my semi-auto pistols… but .. realistically.. in time I will not .. and Im glad that I may have options for the future..

Saw another tread talking about wanting 15-round magazines for the Shield Plus & my reply was they just started selling the Shield Plus EZ yesterday & call it the Equalizer & it takes the same magazine offered in 10-13-15 rounds
IMO this is an M&P just isn't marked as such YET!

Here's our 380EZ

I bet a 30SC will be along very soon
I have seen both a Shield Plus 30SC & a 30SC EZ at the LGS

One of the major issues with the EZ line is the fact that the front to back girth of the pistol being longer than some like the Shield, make it difficult in many cases for those with smaller hands, short fingers ie. women, to reach the trigger and place the pad in the proper location. i have also seen where women in particular have a difficult time getting the grip safety depressed fully, preventing the pistol from firing. sometimes it's a hand placement issue and sometimes it's a strength issue. I don't know if this issue has been addressed with the introduction of the Equalizer.

I say NO to 30SC. Nobody asked for that round to be made and it cost more than 9mm or .380 and nobody at our range is talking about it. Local Academy has a full shelf and they said they've sold ZERO boxes. $35-$38 per box? No thanks

As long as I've worked at a range I've never seen a female have issues engaging the grip safety. From 1911's, XD's, XDS's Shield EZ's and such. Men and women complained about the sharp edges on the grip safety on the Shield EZ Performance Center models. As far as trigger reach I know men who can't get a good grip to get on the trigger
