Few months ago Equifax advised of data breech.
I then placed a Freeze on Credit Applications.

Today I wanted to Remove the Freeze.
Could not get to a human.
"unusually high call volume" "extended wait times"
"all agent are assisting other customers"

Did not hear - "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"

With the lack of service:
I did not want to sign up for an account "www.myEquifax.com"
I am not a trained puppy willing to jump through spinning hoops.

I did NOT hang up but - my calls eventually dropped.

I doubt it is so much a lack of service as it is the overwhelming amount of calls from the recent SSN leak.

Those companies have been hammered.

You can lift a freeze by pushing a button on the website.

Good luck

Getting a human is not necessarily that much help. Dealing with ADT taught me that. They employ multiple humans with varying English skills to sit in layers between you and the person who might be able to help you.

All of the credit bureaus are slammed right now. It's due to the National Public Data consumer data broker breach.

Last time I thawed my credit info to buy a car it was over the phone and through an automated system. It was thawed for 24 hours then frozen again.

Not a freeze, but I have placed a fraud alert on the credit services for both my wife and I for many years. You will get an email alert if anyone attempts to open a credit account in your name. Has never happened to us yet.

Did you mean to include a NOT ? ?

We have fraud alerts and the ability to freeze our credit reports with all 3 bureaus. When need be we can unfreeze one or all accounts on their respective websites in a matter of minutes. Same with our credit cards....they are locked until we need to use them, then re-locked after use. Takes less than 5 minutes on the app.

Why are you trying to do it over the phone?

I just completed freezes for SWMBO and myself on all three credit monitoring bureaus as a result of our SSNs and other data ending up on the black web with the latest breach. I'm guessing that this is going to be norm from now on, and only unfreezing if/when we need to apply for credit. I don't anticipate the need since we are debt free and not big spenders.
