Ethanol question

I don't see a need to drive across down just to keep from using ethanol.

I have been using the 10% blend in everything since it came out.
Bought a new F-250 ford in 1984 and have burned ethanol since new, great truck still have it. My Scagg mower is 22 yrs old and still runs great. MS 250 stihl chain saw is around 10-12 years old, just had to put a new bar on last week wore the old one out, no problems with ethanol. Stihl leaf blower is 3 or 4 years old runs great. Also burn it in my 1959 JD 630 tractor with out problems.

I do use sea-foam to keep gas from getting skunky during long term storage. Also once a year in all rigs to help keep moisture out of the tank.

I can't believe when an ethanol thread comes up how many people there are around that have had trouble with it, I never had and have been using it for over 20 years in everything Ive owned that burns gas. Never had carburetor troubles in any of my old engines ?

Now that said, maybe you do get a little less gas mileage with 10% ethanol, I can't say for sure. However its energy we made and I would think every gallon we didn't have to buy from the rag heads in the crazy middle east was a good thing ??

Actually, I went to that gas station today and was pleasantly surprised to find it was a block from my Church, so it wasn't inconvenient.

$70 to fill up at $4.09 per gallon. Not sure I could make that difference up unless gas mileage went through the roof. I got 19+ on the last tank with ethanol, but I'll try three tanks and see.

SeaFoam used to be not that kind to rubber parts being solvent based. Anyway how much are you saving after factoring in the cost of SeaFoam. And there is nothing on the SeaFoam MSDS that would counter the effects of Ethanol, mostly oil and naptha.

From my limited contact with boat people is that they hate the idea of ethanol in their gas, mainly because or the havoc with orings, etc, What do you boaters in the forum think??

Using ethanol 10% gas I never had any problems with the O rings etc but did have lots of carburator clogging. I switched to ethanol free and haven't had any trouble since (at the same time I sarted disconnecting the fuel line at the engine, 4 stroke, and running it dry at the end of each trip I am sure that has helped as much, or maybe more.
I also use Stabil as a gas preservative.

Here in IA as well as other parts of the country the ethanol industry is heavily subsudized to produce an inferior product that can be sold for about $.12 per gallon less than the regular unleaded. All of the auto maunfacturers rate the fuel mileage on their cars with regular unleaded because it provides the most bang for the buck & gets the highest mpg so that they can meet the EPA requirements. I grew up on a farm & live in farm country but I will not use the alcohol in any of my gas powered equipment. It is another government scam.

Yes I would drive for ethonal free gas and I do. I go to San Antonio routinely from Houston and once you get out of the 5 county houston area, the gas has less ethonal on it. So going to SA I get 21MPG on my highlander but coming back when I fill up out there, I get 24MPG. It will just about pay for itself to drive out to get the gas in terms of mileage.
