Not sure which forum to put this, so I put it in the forum where most of the guns fit.

My guns:

Sig Sauer P220, .45 ACP, no night sights, 3 mags, 95%
S&W 10-9, 4 inch square butt, 98%
Both with original box

Trade for:
S&W Governor
S&W M&P 15-22

both new

Even?
Boot?
If boot, which way?
 
I agree with MC5aw. But I see no use for the Governor and little use for the M&P 15-22. Your call though.
 
They're your guns to trade, of course. I just can't imagine myself swapping two tried-and-true classic firearms for two I think of more as novelties. (Sorry, Governor and M&P 15-22 owners.)

But what do I know? I'm not standing in your shoes.
 
Well, I've got 2 10-5's and a Victory, and I've got a Sig 225. I don't care much for DA/SA .45 caliber pistols, and I've got three 1911 style (Sig, Springfield, and Ed Brown). I like having pistol/long gun combinations in the same caliber, so I've got Marlin Camp Rifle to go with my 6906, a Marlin .357 lever action to go with my 66 and my 28, and a Kel Tec Sub 2000 to go with my Glock 17. My Mossberg .410 riot gun is lonely. As for the 15-22, I figure I need something to whine about on the forum.;)
 
before you offer to do the trade, list the guns here for sale and buy whatever you want with cash. you will come out ahead.
 
I'd dump the Sig in a heartbeat (not a fan) and call me crazy but I like the Governor. I could live without either the Model 10 or the 15-22 however. Value wise you're probably on the right track for overall sale prices crossing hands.
 
Strictly from a bean counting standpoint, I think there is more value on the SIG & M10 side of the equation. It's not to far off, but you'd need at least $100 plus the Gov & M&P to balance things out. Just MHO.
 
It really boils down to if you are happy with what you are getting in return. You may be a couple hundred ahead if you sell your two outright and buy the other 2. However, what is your time worth? If you want the other 2, I'd try to talk the other person into tossing some cash into the scenario.

If you want an M&P15-22, buy one. The Governor has zero appeal for me, but sure as little green apples I wouldn't be trading those two on either of the guns listed
 
Sig Sauer makes great stuff that has never appealed to me for whatever reason. I treat them like commodities. Trade that thing, but keep the Smith & Wesson.

Wouldn't really care either way on that one.

If it's Sig USA it's not Sig Sauer. Quality took a nose dive around 2005. If the mags are Pro mags then they're not worth much either. I would keep it if it was a German Sig. I don't have anything against the model 10 except I don't see the point of a k frame 4in 38spl.

On the other hand the Governor is a gimmic. And i can't believe that S&W actually followed Taurus instead of the usual. And 22lr don't do anything for me. That would be like trying to trade me a BB gun.

If I had to pick I'd stay with what you have.

I would for sure keep the SIG & Don't care for the Governor,15-22's are Tons of Fun but not sure you would get the better end of the deal on a Trade LGS has NIB 15-22's for $369 I am sure both of your prospective trades are worth quite a bit more than that.

At my local LGS the used Governors (with Trtium front sight) sell for $600, with box. A new Governor sells there for $775, before the recent price increases they sold for $675.

This combined info hopefully will give you a value idea for your potential trade.

You can also call me crazy, because I do like the Governor.

It's a true Sig Sauer. I have owned it since 1994, when I traded my P226 for it. I have fired it exactly never since that day.
 
Find the retail value of your guns on an auction site. Those with a Buy-It-Now are usually bang on, especially for common guns such as yours.

If you're considering trading those in at a gun shop, figure that they will give you maybe 60% of retail value in trade.
 
Never trade a gun in..lts like going to a used car dealer.. You never get ahead..List it on the net on one of the auction sites there...Thats where you will get the most for your stuff..lts greatest when two or three want it..Thats called a ''bidding war''.. Sky is the limit then.

No! Never say never. There are plenty of guns that do better as trades than on a auction site.

For instance.....you're not going to get more than $550 for that Sig when used can be had for $100 less. And they are certainly not collectable. On the other hand if someone wants to trade and what they own is more valuable than why not?

There are tons of avg guns out there that are good but not with any real money. You think if I list my used G19 that it will bring any more than any other Glock 19? No! They are all around $350.

IMHO you should keep the guns you have. If you want a "tacticool" .22, buy a basic Ruger 10-22 and then you can accessorize it as you get the cash-the Ruger is also more accurate that the S&W MP .22, both out of the box an after you build it up.
Although the shot-wheel gun seems like a good SD weapon, you can get excellent performance out of the .38, and with the 220 there is no limit to the stopping power you can get with the proper loads, and have a concealable, quick reloadable EDC weapon into the bargin. You can also train with cheaper ACP loadings so you will train more.
 
Agreed, I've traded 3 guns at the LGS so far this year and come out ahead in 2 of the cases (the 3rd I just wanted to get rid of and didn't lose much). The guns were all bought on impulse in very good deals and were traded for guns that are in high demand that my LGS had for less than most online retailers and GB. So Im into 2 of those new guns for much less than I'd be if I'd have bought them outright and who knows how long it would have taken me to sell the 2 guns or if I'd have gotten close to what I wanted for them. Each case is going to be different but in some cases a trade in will net you a better deal than an outright sale and at the very least will get it done quickly with less headache.

Back to the OP, if you dont want your current guns and would rather have the 2 you're trading for then you're close enough to probably work something out with the other party on a trade with maybe if you can work it a little but not too much thrown in on his end. I'd say you're probably looking at 500ish (sig) + 400ish (10) going to him and 600 (gov) + 250/300ish (15-22) coming back, according to the limited time I spent searching for current used pricing.

Edit: Completed the deal today. Won't give details, but I'm happy, LGS that I trust completely is happy, and we're moving down the road. Thanks again for the advice.
