I went to the local Home Depot to order screens and get a few door knobs.
I made a few stops shopping. And I thought I'd stop at the local deli/service garage in my hometown to see how the owners were doing.
I've known these people all my life. Great folks, do anything for you. The father passed away a few years ago. The daughter, who is a few years older than me, had cancer. I wanted to see how she was doing.
She's doing well. thank God. But when I asked about her mom (who was usually there), she told me that she had dementia.
I was crushed. The mom is just the sweetest. nicest woman. She used to visit my mom and my mother in law in the nursing homes and do their hair. Again, would do anything to help you.
I was in a great mood. Passing the Firefighter test, nice day out. Now, I feel a dark cloud over me.
I know we all die. But I saw what dementia did to my mom, and I pray that it goes easier for her and her family.
