I am curious if any one has ever purchased a Slide/Barrel combination followed by a frame assembly purchase thereafter.

Yes, I bought a Beretta 96D Brigadier stainless slide, followed by a stainless 96 Elite barrel. They are currently being treated with melonite. I will eventually find a 96G-SD frame, convert it to DAO, and mate it with the top end. This will be the 3rd Beretta I have built this way.

It seems that the frames are difficult to find when compared to the slide.
I guess the worst case scenario would be to purchase a new frame assembly frame a manufacturer assuming that it i available.
It does seem like a viable project to engage in. I look at it as a treasure hunt!

I have done it with Smiths, but the Beretta 92/96 series has a strong following that loves to mix and match uppers and lowers to create something special. I see it a lot with Sigs as well.
