I'm in need of some gunsmithing tools to touch up a few of my revolvers and also another project I'm working on. I looked at brownells for a forcing cone cutter and the associated tools to use it and the kits are out of stock. So I'm not sure where to turn to next.

I found a website that rents the tools called 4D rentals and they rent all kinds of gunsmith tools. I can rent the forcing cone cutter, 90° breech cutter, pilots, and revolver frame wrench to do everything I need for $97 bucks. I was just curious if anyone has ever used them. This is a 1/4 of the cost to buy the tools to do everything but also I wouldn't get to keep them.

What do you guys think?

I recently rented a chamber reamer from them. It was a 7 day rental, but they allowed 17 days total for transit time. Very easy to deal with, and I would use them again without hesitation.

I’ve got one of their forcing cone reamers right now.

I think they’re a bit nickel & dime. What I received is a Brownells revolver chamfering kit with 80% of the tools missing. I had to pay an extra $5 to get the plug gauge.

So you have 7 days to use it then send it back?

That should give me enough time to removal and install new barrel, cut the new barrel, set cylinder gap, cut forcing cone, and cut my other forcing cones.
