I like mine. I've put a few hundred rounds though it but today I used a chronograph for the first time. With Speer Lawman it shoots about 775, like every other gun I have. But with my ammo, 7.2 grains of PP and a Sierra 230 grain JHP, I got 892 to 899, my Rock Island with the same ammo gets a bit over 950. Ten shots was about a four inch group at 25 yards off a bench. My 1076 does about 50 fps less than my Kimber in 10mm. (1300 vs. 1250, 9.3 gr. VN350 and 180 gr. GDHP)

The DAO is not bad at all, I've gotten used to it I guess. I'll see how I like it after a bunch of revolver shooting.

Best $273.00 gun I've ever owned. (In today's dollars.)

I've only shot it once, but it shot really well. Odd thing, I really don't like the narrow grip at all, just like I dislike a 1911 grip, but I shot it really well, better than any of my other semiautos.

I've owned two and sold off both. Did not shoot them very well. The particular triggers I experienced were not to my liking. I have only really enjoyed shooting one DAO 3rd gen and I stupidly sold it.

Sniper:

That's how we learn, unfortunately. Don't ask me how I know, ok?

My first shooting session was so-so. It seemed to shoot quite low and to the left. Not sure if that has more to do with my unfamiliarity with DAO semis or what.

I replaced both the trigger (reduced power) and recoil springs (factory original) and plan on running a hundred rounds through it later today.

I love my Bud's $259 4586. So far I have put 100 SWC's and100 jacketed RN through it without a hint of a problem. On the weekend I will try it with Speer Gold Dots and Hornady XTP's. I plan to use this as a carry gun and have ordered a UBG IWB holster for it. I will also send the slide in to have the night sights re-charged. I understand it cost about 50 bucks.

The pistol was very accurate. I still have to get use to the DAO trigger. I was stringing shots low if I did not concentrate. I also have a 642 and snub 686 that I carry so all my carry guns will work the same way, just point and shoot. No safeties or de-cock levers, just point and pull the trigger. I like to keep things simple:D.

Nope. Not for me. It's going to be for sale in the Milwaukee area very soon.

The new springs did help with the trigger pull a bit. But the fact of the matter is I simply do not like shooting DAO and I do not want to invest another dime in a gun I don't enjoy.

For my total investment of about $300 it was worth a try. Too bad it didn't work out.

I shot my Bud's $259 4586 at an IDPA match while I was on vacation in Missouri. It was the first time I made it to the range with that 4586 (I have another one that I love, so I figured for $259 a spare couldn't hurt). It shoots right on point of aim and was completely reliable.

The 4586 did me right, I came in first of everyone in CDP, was 4th overall (out of 27, 2 SSP Sharpshooters and one ESP Sharpshooter beat me), and I got the most accurate title with 3 points down for the match. I've been shooting almost all SSR recently and doing so has really improved my accuracy, it helps that the 4586 shoots like a magazine fed revolver.

I just ordered a Milt Sparks VM2 for the 4586, with luck it will be here by December when it starts to get cold in North Carolina.

Mine shoots good but I am not crazy about the DAO. I will shoot it more and maybe trade it later. I have a 4566 TDA that I like to shoot better.

I had a 4586 and it shot well enough, but it did not have re-strike capability so I sold it.

I dont have 4586, but I would love to get one in the future. I do have a 1086 that I absolutely love to shoot....

I, unfortunately, have already let my 4586 TSW, bought from Buds, go. I have never owned but have dry fired a "normal' double action only Smith semi auto. The TSW was nothing like the one I sampled. I thought at first that the trigger pull was similar to my Smith revolvers. I shot the TSW and my 686-5 side by side and found that the 686 trigger was, in my opinion, far superior. So even though it pained me to let go of an American made, all stainless, 45 ACP, semi auto, it just did not suit. The upside of the whole deal was I broke even in selling it which is definitely not my selling/trading record.

I just ordered some new springs for my Bud's 4586. I got a standard weight recoil spring, fireing pin spring and a 17 and 18 lb. hammer spring. The existing fireing pin spring is very weak. The pin is not getting out of the way of the ejecting shells and leaving a gouge on the primer.

I am going to try it with some 230 grain Gold Dot's and 185 grain XTP's this weekend. I hope it feeds both well as I want this to be my primary carry gun.

I missed out on the fun with the Bud's deal...if any of you want to unload your 4586 at a reasonable profit, let me know!

Lest there be any confusion, my 4586 cost $259.00 as well. I opted for the insurance and donated ten bucks to my gun club for the transfer. The extra dollar is because I can't do arithmatic.

I've gone back to my 10mms, but it's still a fun gun to have around to shoot when one wants. Pretty soon I'm going to give all these semi-autos a rest and get back to revolvers, and it's getting close to elk season, if the wolves have left any. That means rifles.

New UGB Holster

Here is my Bud's 4586 in it's new UBG Canute IWB holster. I could not be happier with the holster. The fit was perfect from the first time I put the pistol in it and the quality and workmanship is outstanding. The marks you see in it are my fault. It was in the mid 90's here yesterday and I wore it while out and about during the hottest part of the day. The marks are from the inside of my jeans. The finish got a bit stickey in the heat. I little neutral Kiwi should take care of that:D.

Yeah, it's a bit warm here this weekend. Just got back from the Monroe WAC show, and off to the range in a bit
for my first session with my Bud's 4586, and an unfired late production 39-2.

Range report - "Bud's" 4586

I can say I'm in the "I love it" camp after my first experience with a DAO 3rd gen.

The 4586 I received ( BDJ15xx) was spotless and dry inside, some fluff in the barrel that came out easily, and easily 85% or better external condition, with some tiny rub spots on the slide, some rust on the rear sight, and all the sight dots were filthy dirty. A quick field strip and clean-n-lube, and it was off to the range.

First target at 7 yds kept most of 4 mags-full inside the 10 zone on a BLEA target, with a few out into the 9 zone. Not even really trying, just checking for operating issues and getting used to it. All with MagTech 230gr FMJ.

Once I started trying a bit, I could easily keep 2" groups with slow aimed fire, and still keep everything inside the center mass working up some speed.

I switched to some hotter 230gr FMJ loads I got today, and the accuracy improved, with only a bit more noticeable muzzle flash, and not much change in recoil.

Tried some at 15yds, and able to keep all shots easily in the kill zone at a fairly quick pace.

There were no malfunctions of any kind through 150 rounds.

Although I don't own any revolvers, I have shot some in the last year, and from old memory, the trigger seems to be very much like a good revolver trigger - smoooth, and not too heavy. All my other autos are TDA, so I'm much more used to those triggers. I can tell I need some strengthening of the trigger muscles if I were to shoot this for an all-day or weekend event.

Overall, i'm tickled with this gun, best firearm purchase I've made in a very long time.

It's hard to find fault with something as cheap, and shoots as well as these 4586's do. If it wasn't for the "road rash" mine has on the slide, it would be "excellent". But it doesn't affect the shooting of it, and not having to worry about it getting scratched up is nice, so I'm very happy.

I've survived the two-week shutdown and will hopefully have my 4586TSW and 4553TSW back from the factory within the next week or two, at least if they're as speedy as they were with my 5946TSW in February. I'm expecting to enjoy the heck out of them if for nothing other than looks ;) .
