Ok Guys, gun is in time, no end-shake at all, but there is quite a bit of side to side play. I read an article by Reid Coffield that said you could fix it with an oversized cylinder stop. Is this accurate? Or do I need to fit a new hand as well? Thanks!

They have rotational "side play". They're supposed to. Probably wouldn't shoot well without. Some "play" allows the chamber and barrel to align as the bullet transitions from the chamber throat to the forcing cone.
Tomcatt51, I know they have some play, but this is quite a bit. I have pre-27's, 27-2's, 13's, Model 10's, 29-2's a few Rugers, and this particular gun is a 27-5. I also have a 27-5 that locks up like a bank vault.
So again, the question is, can it be fixed just by replacing the cylinder stop?
Anyone?

Maybe, if the current stop is beat up. The MIM cylinder stops usually drop in, no fitting. Put one in and see. Or fit an OS stop.

Dryfire it and hold down the trigger, now how is the wobble? Do this on all 6.
Yes, the stop needs either an adjustment or replacement. If the stop is loose in the frame then the frame around the hole gets tightened up. In addition, the hand might need replacing if the carry up is not spot on. The carry up is checked with range rods, did you check your carry up with range rods?

Carry up is a term for timing the cylinder and range rods are special plug gauges which slide down the barrel, into the cylinder to inspect the timing (carry up) of the action.
I'd say your gun is in need of a tune up.
S&W would charge you around 100 bucks for the service, but they do nice work.
