It is spreading everywhere, even on guns.

Since my boy gave me the Rainbow Leek, I have been needing one of those to go with it.

A 'dolphin'

What sort of "dorado"? Some call the dolphin that. To me, the dorado ("golden one") is a salmonid that lives in South American rivers like the Rio de la Plata, between Brazil and Argentina.
Look them up; worth it. Said to be very hard fighters and quite tasty. An imposing fish.

I do understand that the dolphin (fish, not like Flipper) fades rapidly with death. It's mahi-mahi on menus, so people won't confuse it with the dolphin mammals.

I talking about the oceanic dolphin fish that are greenish gold on the sides and blue-grey along the dorsal fin that runs the length of the body. The males have high blunt heads.

It was a job to get it in the boat because it was on one side one second and the other side the next second. It was like a rainbow flashing through the water, one of the most beautiful sights I've seen and I will long remember.

I never heard one referred to as a Mahi Mahi until about the 80s but I think restaurants didn't want to call them dolphins and Mahi Mahi made it sound exotic and new. I caught mine in the Gulf stream of the SC coast. How exotic is that?

When Miami is playing in Foxboro the restaurants around here have Dolphin fish on the menu.:D

I have discovered that Tex-Mex and I are not mutual admirers. The same is true of the men who Liked his post. I think I'll just let his testy remarks pass. Ditto for the individual who tried to cause trouble by remarking about Brazilian models. I do admire several (and not for looks alone) , but have been told not to discuss them here. Not that I ever understood why that upset certain people, who apparently complained to the Gorilla about it.

But he is simply wrong that I began this topic just to show off my knowledge. It was a valid question, addressed mainly to Bear Bio, one of the relatively few members whom I admire and to whose posts I pay great attention.

But I've learned more than expected. I have never seen a marlin caught and didn't know that the blue ones go gray in death. And until I read Bio's post, I didn't know that one could leave phosphorescent footprints in sand. I suppose that one's feet pick up the organisms causing that because they've washed ashore with the surf?

I realize that certain persons here hate me. I don't fully comprehend why, but I can discern personalities, and those with whom I do get along well and respect mostly make up for the vitriol of those who behave as they do. I have even prayed for one of these men who posted about his family tragedies. I like to think there's good in most of us. I just wish that some didn't make it so hard to find in them.

One of the most responsible and helpful members on this board PM'd me today to ask what really upset Tex-Mex. I suppose that only he knows. But even he made a useful post that informed me of more than his irascible personality: he was the first to post about the fading colors of a caught blue marlin. I was interested and am grateful to know about that.

I don't really present myself as the ultimate knowledge box of all things, and if some feel otherwise, they are simply wrong. If Tex-Mex got upset because I thought his post was to the board instead of to labworm alone, whom he quoted, I apologize.

I did get the answer that I wanted, so the thread has served its purpose and I hope it also interested others. If it upset a predictable few, I hope they have a bottle of Pepto-Bismol in the medicine cabinet.

Actually, it's the organisms in the wet sand. You disturb them and they light up. Same with the boat wakes and small fish jumping==all cause light flashes. The red tides would coin cide with the grunion runs, if I remember right (Hey, it's been 50 years or so)

Hey TS,

It was a joke man!

I was just trying to lighten things up with my first post until someone that actually knew something showed up.

My second post about the models was a dig. But I couldn't resist.

If you're talking about me and the prayers, Thank you. I've prayed for you and your brother also. That was no joke.

I'll lighten up some more in the future as you have a hard time understanding my humor.

Don't be so quick to be offended. I can laugh at myself and nobody here or anywhere else can insult me to a point that I get upset over it. I suggest you do the same and don't take things to heart.
