I have a 625-2 & 625-3 with hammer noses attached to the hammer with a roll pin. I am considering installing extended hammer noses to ensure reliable strikes, even if the strain screws backs out a bit. I plan to use the original hammer. Brownells has one from Power Custom, but it doesn't mention whether it is longer than the OEM hammer nose. Does anyone know who sells extended, fixed hammer noses for N-frames, circa 1989/1989? Thanks.

The Power Custom one is longer.

You can make the current one longer if you want to. Take it off the hammer, grind the face of the hammer back about .010, making sure to maintain the original angle, deburr the edges, and put it back on. The firing pin will go further in, the same amount you ground off the hammer.

Make sure that the firing pin (hammer nose) is not hitting the firing pin bushing in the frame. If it is, you can file a little clearance on the firing pin with a needle file.
