Hey guys, I did a search but returned no results. I am wanting to get an extended magzine release but am wondering which design works best if any of you know. There are the truly extended one piece buttons and then the ones that are two piece and the button snaps on. Any info will help! THANKS

I have the two-piece from NDZ Performance.

Magazine Release Button

Yes, it is held in place by two tight fitting o'rings. You really have to want to take it off to get it off. I chose the two-piece because you can get the magazine release lever a couple of more turns in than you can with the one-piece. This prevents the lever from dropping down when you push the release button in all the way.

"NDZ Performance, Oversized Magazine Release button. Adds the custom personalized look to your rifle. This is strictly a cosmetic add-on and does NOT assist in firing at any time.

Please read:
All Mag. release buttons are NOT equal. Our NEW 2pc. release buttons are designed to work just like the factory button, keeping the Magazine. catch properly seated in the lower even if the button is fully depressed. Our Magazine. buttons solve the current problem associated with the 1 piece design. Similar 1 piece buttons allow the catch to come OUT of the lower and swing down when the button is fully depressed, this is an unwelcomed condition. After all, this is how the 1 piece versions are installed in the first place. Other Manufacturers may include a stronger spring or o-ring to help prevent full button depression, but this is simply a band-aide to a problem which we solved.

NEW 2pc design, Mag. catch remains seated even when button is fully depressed, unlike the 1 pc designs that use a heavier spring or o-ring to prevent full button depression.
Extended & larger surface area allows for quick-n-easy Mag. releases
100% billet aluminum
Thread base on like stock button, then our cap is installed/pressed into place. 2 orings provide a nice tight bore fit
Simple NO tool install or removal
Offers a true customized look
Matte black anodized finish anti-reflective/glare
Replaces your stock button with ease"

The ar15 charging handle will fit the 1522? I thought it wasn't interchangeable?

NDZ! NDZ! NDZ! NDZ!

Did I remember to say NDZ?

Magazine Release Button

NOTE: I am NOT affiliated with NDZ, just a very satisfied customer. I have bought three 15-22 and all have NDZ products on them.

NO, an AR-15 charging handle will NOT fit a 15-22. This is what you are wanting:

Charging Handle

Do not get suckered into buying the handle by Plinker Tactical, the quality is inferior to the NDZ model. The ONLY good thing about the PT handle is the ambi-latch. I bought one just to get the latch and an in the process of swapping it over to an NDZ handle. Both of my grandson's 15-22s have the NDZ handle.

Note: the above comment is NOT meant to be a criticism of Jody Scott at TactiCool22, who sells the PT handle. Jody is a great guy to do business with and the products his company makes are first rate.

I am under the impression that the 15-22 will take any of the AR mag releases buttons, please correct me if I am wrong. I have been planning on that mod for some time, however, with the Black Dog 50 round drum, I don't have to change mags very often, even in matches.

That is true. Any of the aftermarket buttons will work.

Personally I like the NDZ serrated button over a smooth, decorated one; very tactile surface.

Now if they'd only offer a serrated button WITH an engraved image... :D

Keep dreaming. :)

That would be cool, but having watched them laser-engrave stuff I have bought I think they can only do it on a smooth surface with the engravers they have.

Just gave me an idea, (too bad I don't have the equipment or money to do it) but maybe a stamped image into the serrated button much like the stamped logo on a grip.

Or instead of laser engraving, go old school with hammer and microchisel. :D (of course it'd increase price, but I'd probably buy it)

The serrations are fairly corse. I'm not sure either laser or hand engraving would look good, or even be workable - especially the hand engraving.

Interesting concept, though.

I went over to NDZ this afternoon to pick up the charging handle to replace my PT version. The PT ambi-latch and NDZ charging handle are a great combination.

While there I asked about laser engraving on the grooved and serrated mag buttons. They told me that, while it is possible, it's not really practical. The image would only look right if viewed straight on. From the side, the image would be either distorted or have portions missing.

I kinda figured that. Oh well, hey, thanks for inquiring! :D
