Waiting for my CC license to be approved, and I keep debating between the M&P 9 compact and the shield. I've practice and carried the 45c in my home to get comfortable, and can actually conceal it with just a t shirt with no printing except when bending or stretching. Weight also is not an issue in carrying the 45.

The only thing I don't like about the shield is that it's taller than the 9c, and even more so with the 8 round mag.
I think I'd go with the shield if they make just a pinky extender like the one on the 9c; one that doesn't extend the entire size of the grip.
I can't seem to find one, and was wondering if anyone knows if they're available anywhere.

Look up the Pierce Magazine extension. It attaches to the Shield magazine by replacing the base plate. It really helped my grip.

Have you had a Shield and a Compact together to compare?

I found mine to be pretty much the same height with the extended magazines in them both. The guns without magazines were also the same height.

IMHO the advantage of the Shield lies in its thickness, or lack thereof. If you go OWB, it doesnt stick out as far, and IWB, its less between your pants and body. As far as pinky extensions go, I have the Pearce on my regular and extended mags. When carrying, the extended pinky portion is facing down, and I find it conceals no different than the stock base plates. YMMV.
Welcome to the forum as well.

Thanks guys. I didn't know Pearce made them for the shield...

I know it's not much of a difference, but every bit counts. It's like a bi tailed 1911.

First of all, try shooting with the shorter mag without the rest. Strangely enough, I shoot better with the 7 round 9mm mag and my pinky curled under the mag than I do with the 8 round mag and my pinky in it's "normal" position (!!??). I have no idea why, but it was my first session with the new gun. Maybe it will change over time.

I experienced the same thing on my 9/40 Shield's. The Pearce and NDZ extensions feel great in the hand but I carry with the flat bottom mag.

Some extensions do... Pearce doesn't, for some reason.
Not with my G26, XDMc, or Shield.

Wouldn't the extensions "print" more under your clothing or perhaps "dig" a little more into your body while carrying?

Been carrying a shield appendix with the Pearse ext and it feels/prints no different than the flush mag.

The NDZ look nicer but the Pearce fit my hand better. The NDZ are a little too short and scrunch up my pinky too much but would work fine for someone with a medium/small hand.

That's my assessment also. When you stand them both up side by side so they are both sitting on the longest part of the grip/extension, they are the same hight.

It's the heel of the bottom of the frame that prints for me.
The 8 rounder prints and the heel part being extended gets caught on my hand when I release the mag.

I think I'm going with Pearce.

The Pearce extensions are my choice as well. I have them on other guns as well.
