How many of you have installed an extended take down lever in your SDVE pistol? I've always installed one in the various SD pistols I've owned. Personally, I find it difficult to maneuver the OEM take down lever. I've also installed an extended lever in the various Glocks I've owned.

One trick I've discovered with the OEM lever (while waiting on the extended lever to arrive) is to use a soft cloth (like a microfiber cleaning cloth) to snag the lever, rather than just use my fingers. I keep my fingernails trimmed short, so I can't use them.

I'm just mainly curious how many of you like (or stick with) the OEM lever.

Extended lever was the first mod I did to my SD9VE. Just couldn't get a good hold on the stock lever.

If you do get the extended lever, just be aware that it may give you slight pistol extraction problems from a holster due to the sharp teeth of lever sticking out further.

I use a plastic Blackhawk "CQC" OWB paddle holster and with the extended lever I found at first, it snagged on some of the plastic when withdrawing the gun.

Spent 30 seconds of gentle knife whittling where it was snagging behind the finger release area. I cut the squared edge on the inside of holster to make an angled slope.

I've not had a problem since. Gun now withdraws with speed and no hangups.

You'd never know any custom work had been done to holster if it wasn't pointed out.

I don't carry my SD9VE on-body, so the holster issue hadn't occurred to me. Thanks for that info. I do carry mine in the car, in a pistol rug, so I haven't encountered any snags. Now that Texas has open carry, I might try an OWB holster. I'd still probably wear a shirt over it, so it would be more or less concealed, but no concerns about printing (which has largely been eliminated anyway.)

I installed the extended takedown lever within a week of buying my SD9VE. It makes a difference for me as the men in my family on my Dad's side all have very shallow fingerprints so my grip on anything needs all the help it can get.

I haven't had any issues with it snagging on anything, holster, fabric, etc.
