I can barely see the screen. I had my eyes dialated this morning. I got up Sunday morning with floaters in my left eye. I mean long stringy and spider webs. Then about noon there were so many black dots I could barely see through them. First thing I thought of was a detached retina. Went to the eye sprcialist to get it checked out. Thank goodness no detached retina. I had posterior vitreous detachment.

Thats when the vitreous jell pulls away from the back wall of the eye. And to makes things worse when it did this a blood vessel burst causing bleeding in my eye, The long stringy things and black flakes were blod clots.

There is no treatment and it takes a month + to get better. I guess I will be a grouchy sonofagun till it gets better.

could have been worse,

Don

Sorry about the eye problems hopefully it get sorted out. My father 82 had catalic (mispelled) surgey in left eye Thanksgiving no problem. Then the right eye 1 st of dec. Got infection all sorts of complication. Anyway just got redone and looks good now. My cousin took him turkey hunting last weekend.

Hope you the best

hang in there it takes time. My eye had to be taken out so they could fix it from the rear. Next month they went in thru the front to fix the retina. Both cases they removed all of the vitrious fluid and filled the eye with gas to keep it from colapsing. Kept asking the Surgeon when will all this be over. He said wait 12 weeks.Twelve weeks later I was back to 20/35 and now I am closer to 20/25. Be Patient!!

Be Patient!!

That's the watchword with anything to do with the eye. A detachment is bad enough, but I feel REALLY sorry for poor pcrbr1 with his two vitrectomies. I am not sure how such a thing comes to pass. Maybe what he had was not actually a vitrectomy at all - sure hope so.

Anyway, his advice is right about patience. Be sure you have a good doctor and that you have confidence in him, follow his advice to the letter, keep him posted of any changes and/or of any medical treatments (including dentistry) you may have scheduled, try to stay positive, and be patient. It DOES take time. It took me more than a year to even start to get back to normal after a detachment.

Good luck!

Best wishes for a full recovery.
At least you can now say that you never saw it coming.

I occasionally get iritis or uvitis which often leaves debris in my eye. I sort of understand what's going on in some small way.
Best wishes.

Best of luck on a speedy and complete recovery. I'll keep an eye out for that problem.

I had a mess o'trouble a few years back, almost went blind. 'Grouchy' don't come close, just points the general direction....but they fixed it. Mostly.

It does seem like a long time to recover. Ain't near as long looking back at what 'might' have happened when it's all done. Follow what your doc says.

Count your blessings while you're otherwise sitting & grouching.....

Good luck, Don.

I'm officially half-blind, had a stroke several years ago that took the vision in my left (good) eye. I was right handed, with dominant left eye, now I'm left handed (lost most use and most sensation on my right side) and right eyed.

I'll most likely not be a sharp-shooter, but I can hit most everything I'm shootin' at!
