F Comp vs Carry Comp

Hey guys anyone care to school me on the difference (aside from stainless vs blues) between a F Comp 66-6 with a 3” ported barrel and a current Performance Center 19 Carry Comp with the 3” ported barrel?

I might have an opportunity to snag the 66-6 with a slight premium but not sure if it’s really worth it to me since the 19 seems like pretty much the same gun just with stainless.

Any wisdom offered would be appreciated.

Aside from the lock and whatever engineering changes and metallurgical makeup, they are the same...

If you can grab the 66 I would suggest that as I'm partial to stainless, IMHO.

They are virtually twins.

If I had none and the F-Comp was complete including it's original grips (they shipped with nice wood) . . . I would go F-Comp

I would not pay a premium. After all the revolver that you buy NEW will have Smith & Wesson's warranty. A used one will not.

I have a 586 L Comp, I hated the comp, it was useless. But, the gun has the best damn action I've ever felt, and I've felt a few. Unless you LOVE the idea of the comp, mainly from an appearance standpoint, get usable barrel, adding power and accuracy. Sorry to be knocking the comped guns, just my opinion.
I sent the L-Comp back, $300 bucks later it's re-barreled and perfect, (for me).

^^^what he said. As I just posted on another thread, can't see the benefit of this port/front sight arrangement on a carry piece. Can anyone comment on muzzle blast from the port if the gun should be fired from waist level, as might be necessary in a close encounter?

I shot the comped barrel a lot, but would not shoot it from the hip. It did make the front sight dirty depending on loading, but did not send fire and brimstone spewing from the comp, it was useless. I think it's a marketing placebo attempting to sell the magnum calibers to folks on the fence about shooting magnums.

Either cut off the comp and make it more concealable or give me a true 3" barrel and full sight radius!
