New here and learning. Cleaning out stash of S&W factory boxes. Looking for best options to sell, how to price, and mailing advice. Haven't taken a complete inventory yet. Would ebay be a waste of time? Have posted a couple, but seems like big investment in time.

Post some pics with a sticky note numbered to the box and list descriptions that correlate to the number. Fair prices will sell quick here. eBay hits you pretty hard on listing and selling costs. Ship in USPS flat rate box. I sold a lot of boxes here several years ago.

Price them at buyers choice for $20 each. You will know right away which ones your were too low on, and which one nobody wants.

PS---You gave no indication of age or condition so determining a price blindly will be really tough.

It is an investment in time unless you just want to get rid of them and don't care about what they are worth then do what the poster said and list them for $20 each and see what happens. If they are all newer guns say post 1990, and plastic cases that might be an OK strategy although I have seen very few boxes sell for just $20 on ebay. Maybe $30 would be a good starting point.
If you have boxes from theh 1980s and older then prices get very subjective very quickly. I have sold and purchased Red Chief Special boxes from early 1950s for $200-$300. Reg Magnum boxes, early post war boxes, pre war boxes will all bring premiums to a collector. $30-$500. Condition of the cardboard boxes is also a factor as it is in anything. I hope this helps.
If you want to unload them at $20 a piece please pm or email me.

As others have said, it all depends on the vintage, condition and desirability of the particular box whether or not doing listings on eBay make sense or not. I have bought S&W boxes at shows for as little as $5.00 each. On the other hand, I have a scarce vintage S&W box that I wouldn't sell for $150.

In regard to plastic boxes, be aware that S&W sells its current design blue plastic boxes for as little as $11.00 each (plus tax/shipping)... so if someone is just looking for a factory replacement box for a current gun (or a non-period-correct replacement for an older gun), that usually makes the most sense.

Hint: Don't sell one of these for $20. ;)
