Silly question, but if you have a S&W 3rd gen LE trade with night sights that are dim, and you want them updated to new bright ones, what is the best way to do this? I know that dim night sights have some resale value, since some companies will give a discount on the fresh ones.

How does S&W factory service handle this, as compared to sending them out to a different smith?

I emailed Trijicon about my Beretta 92 sights, they said that they would replace them for $18 a lamp= $54 and I believe that included return shipping. But email them and see if that is still in effect, this was about 6/8 month ago.

That sounds familiar, i.e., the price per lamp. It's been awhile since I spoke to them. Maybe I was figuring everything, lamps and round trip shipping. Heck, I'm getting old, you know. It's even tough to recall what I had for lunch yesterday.

Send the slide to the factory and let them do it. It is the fastest and safest way to insure the tritium elements do not get damaged during installation.

Send the slide to Trijcon. They made the Novak night sights for S&W. When it comes to 3rd generation night sights, Trijicon is the factory.

Note that Trijicon only re-lamps its own night sights. That's why they'll re-lamp the S&W night sights, Trijicon originally installed the lamps in them. When I originally called Novak about some dim night sights on a 3913, they said, "Call Trijicon, they made them."

FWIW

Trijicon re-lamped the night sights on my duty gun (Beretta 96) earlier this year for $45 including return shipping. Turn around time was about 10 days door to door.
