factory rebluing indicators

In a previous thread I asked what type of markings were made on gun to signify a factory reblue. The examples given showed RB stamps for reblue and also indicated a date of the rebluing. On inspection of one of my 5screws it shows only a R stamp. No date or B after the R. Does this lone R mean a factory reblue?

Does it appear refinished? If not, the R is probably an inspector's or fitter's stamp.

It makes a difference depending on which side of the grip frame it was on.

An R stamped on the lower left hand side of the grip frame indicates your revolver was "reworked" during manufacture. This is not all that uncommon as an R can be found on quite a few guns.

Thanks for the replies. I had thought that the RB stamp was the reblue stamp. This eases my mind.
